Bel-Ray Racing-Weekend Racing Preview
For the 2012 season, Bel-Ray is the lubricant of choice for TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing, Dodge Motorsports/Hart & Huntington/Sycuan Casino/Bel- Ray Racing and Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki, as well as several privateers competing each weekend.
TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing's Chad Reed is looking to rebound from his 5th place finish last weekend in Phoenix, Arizona. Despite a positive start by setting the second fastest lap time, Reed struggled in the heat race taking a 7th place finish. Reed had challenged for the lead, and suffered from an unfortunate mistake that caused him to go down. Reed’s main event was more successful as he worked through the field after an uncharacteristic mid-pack start. By the time the checkered flag fell, Reed managed a 5th place finish. This was the 125th time in his career that Reed has finished in the top 5 in a Supercross main event. Reed currently sits 3rd in the series standings.
The Dodge/Hart & Huntington/Sycuan Casino/Bel-Ray Racing team came to Phoenix looking to improve on their opening round results. Finishing in 4th and 5th respectively in their heat race Josh Hansen and Ivan Tedesco qualified directly for the main event. Teammate Kyle Partridge took a respectable 8th place finish in the second heat, and also went directly to the main event. Despite starting near the back of the field and getting involved in early crashes with other riders, the entire team made forward progress, and finished strong by the end of the race. Hansen placed 10th, Tedesco 11th and Partridge finished 17th. All 3 are in the top 20 in the points standings with Hansen in 10th, Tedesco in 11th and Partridge in 20th.
The newest addition to Bel-Ray’s professional racing teams is Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki. Both team racers, Martin Davalos and Jason Anderson, have performed well in qualifying and have made the cut into the main event at each round. Anderson has been a consistent finisher with 7th place finishes at each of the first 2 rounds. Teammate Davalos has been less successful as he has failed to finish either round. Both riders come to Los Angeles looking to improve and challenge for the podium this Saturday night.
