CORONA, Calif. - Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Darryn Durham sustained a wrist injury following a practice crash Friday at the Kawasaki test track. The newest Pro Circuit Race Team member was taken to the hospital immediately following the accident, where the doctor informed him he had a slight fracture of the wrist.
The Pennsylvania native had surgery that night to insert a screw in his wrist, which should help speed up the recovery process. Expected to be in a cast for four weeks, Durham is optimistic he will be ready in time for the start of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season.
“Everything is going good,” Durham said recently. “It is just a minor set back, but I will be ready for the season at the beginning of January.”
Team owner Mitch Payton added, “It’s unfortunate. Darryn was looking good on the bike. With time and through rehabilitation, we hope he can get back on the bike soon.”
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team starts the season just after the New Year, with the opening round of the AMA Supercross Championship from Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on Saturday, January 7.
