Stewart Takes Win Number 10
LOS ANGELES, CA - Team San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart took his tenth win of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, an FIM World Championship, earning him another valuable 25 points within the overall championship points race.
For the 13th time during the season, Stewart posted the fastest lap times of the evening and won his Heat, Heat Race 2, for the direct transfer to the Main. Teammate Kyle Chisholm ran Heat Race 1, finishing 6th for a direct transfer to the Jacksonville main.
Before a packed Jacksonville crowd of 31,653 at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, Stewart burst out of the gate and quickly tucked into the spot behind the race leader. On lap 13, Stewart made a pass and then on lap 15 took the race lead where he remained until taking the win with a 3.9 second gap over the second place finisher. Teammate Chisholm, qualifying for the 10th Main of his rookie season, took a season best 8th place finish, marking his second top-10 finish for the season.
“It was a great race, and we actually collided over the triple jump, but that’s racing,” said Stewart. “I look forward to the next race in Seattle.”
