As a Texas motocross historian, I dug up this interesting fact: Only five Texans have AMA Pro Motocross/Supercross wins. Wyman Priddy (1972), Kent Howerton (’74-’83), Steve Stackable (’76-’77), Steve Wise (’76-’80), and now Ty Masterpool (2024). Amazing that there has been over a 40-year gap between wins for Texas riders. For the record, Andrew Short has some national wins but that was before he moved to Texas from Colorado, and Blake Wharton has some 250SX Regional wins. And while neither Ty nor Kent were born in Texas, they both moved to Texas as young boys and did most of their racing from Texas. So, we consider them Texans! Keep up the good work!

My fellow Canadian, Steve Matthes, had a great idea for catch fences in supercross corners—at least that’s how he has explained it so many times on his show and in print. I have an idea to help with the issues about jumping on the red cross flag and I wanted to hear your thoughts.
Has anyone looked into using laser lights that can display an image? They could be placed at the base of the triples (in supercross) and have an image of a red cross or a big “X” displayed on the face of the jump. This would allow riders to concentrate their line selection and when turned on it would be clearly visible to them as there would be a large colourful image across the track.

(Definitely an interesting idea, Glen. Let’s run it up the flagpole and see what others think. And yes, Matthes does talk about his safety nets quite often, those were a very good idea. DC)
