M ike Healey was one of the most dynamic characters the motocross world has ever known. A minicycle hotshoe from Southern California, Healey was a flashy, aggressive rider with seemingly limitless talent. He could absolutely fly on just about any kind of track, though he seemed most at ease on the slick, hard-packed local circuits of the eighties: Carlsbad, Saddleback, Escape Country. Healey signed a factory contract with Suzuki before he was old enough to drive a car. He turned pro just as 125 Supercross was coming online in 1985. He won the first two pro races he entered, Anaheim and Seattle.
