Monster Energy AMA Supercross is a very big production, with a small army of crew members that build it all up and tear it all back down, week in and week out. We asked Alec Gaut to give us a behind-the-scenes look at his job on the SX Crew Ops team

Let me begin by introducing myself, because you’ve probably never heard of me, though you’ve seen the work of the supercross team I belong on. My name is Alec Gaut and I am a member of what’s called the “Crew Ops” team for Feld Motor Sports, producers of Monster Energy AMA Supercross. Our crew does not build the racetracks—that’s Dirt Wurx—but rather we build out the infrastructure that’s all around each track and event.
Everything from the starting gate to the finish-line structure inside the stadium, as well as many of the pit-party assets you see out in the Fan Zones. And when the night program starts, I have one of the best seats in the house—I’m down helping out as a runner, wherever needed, as well as shooting photos. Add it all up, and I’m getting to live out my dream of being in the moto industry.
