

The 2023 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernee, France attracted the biggest crowd ever for the “Olympics of Motocross.” It was also the loudest.

The symphony began on Friday morning as soon as the fans began streaming in. It was a disorganized wave generated by various noise-making devices: Air horns, chainsaws, whistles, drums, and more. There were voices, too, predominantly French, which made sense—we were at the Moto Club D’Ernee’s Circuit Raymond Demy, in the Normandy Region of France. They were all there—more than 102,000 through the gate by Sunday afternoon—to celebrate and enjoy the 2023 FIM Motocross of Nations. And the announcers reminded them time and again over the weekend, in both French and English, “You have just one job—to make noise!”
