For a generation of SoCal motocross racers and their families, Carlsbad Raceway held a very special place in their hearts. Located just off Interstate 5 above San Diego, the track was best known as the site of the annual 500cc U.S. Grand Prix of Motocross, the biggest outdoor motocross race in the entire country, and the one race featured each year on ABC’s Wide World of Sports.
