Jockeying for Position
Throughout most of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship the riders you see crowded together in this Glendale corner have been chasing the two guys not in this photo, title combatants Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb. Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson (21), Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull GasGas’ Justin Barcia (51), Red Bull KTM’s Aaron Plessinger (7), Honda’s Chase Sexton (23), Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo (9), and Progressive/ Ecstar Suzuki’s Ken Roczen have all had their turns at the front (Sexton more so than the rest). But from the start of the series through the first 13 rounds, the red plate has only been passed back and forth by Yamaha’s Tomac and KTM’s Webb. And barring some last-minute drama, one of those two-time AMA Supercross Champions will be adding a third.
