In a somewhat shocking turn of events, BTO Sports/WPS KTM has announced the signing of Davi Millsaps for the 2016 season. Millsaps will make his debut with the team at the 2015 Monster Energy Cup in October, where he looks to defend his 2014 win. Current team members, Justin Brayton and Andrew Short, will also return to the team in 2016.
Millsaps signed with Monster Energy Kawasaki last off-season, but had his contract terminated on April 16. Both Kawasaki and Millsaps issued separate statements on the matter, with Millsaps saying, “While I am not at liberty to discuss details, I can say without equivocation that I have not violated any AMA or FIM rule or regulation. At this point I am evaluating my options, both professional and legal.”
Prior to the start of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, Millsaps was rumored to start his own program on Suzukis and return for Round 7 at RedBud. Millsaps reportedly ran into problems setting up the program and was expected to debut at the Monster Energy Cup.
The team also announced a new sponsor for 2016—Creative Sports Concepts.
