Update: Tomac, Bell out for Phoenix, Grant Gives It A Shot
Bad news piled up quickly at Monster Energy Supercross in Phoenix. A tricky rhythm section claimed GEICO Honda 250SX rider Zach Bell and JGR/Toyota Yamaha 450SX rider Josh Grant in practice today. Reports are that Bell has a broken collarbone and is out for (at least) the evening. Grant has a sore shoulder as well, the team doesn't know the extent of the damage but the veteran is definitely out for at least tonight.
Eli Tomac was a race-day decision for the GEICO Honda team in 450SX after a crash last week in his Anaheim heat race left him with a bad shoulder. He tried suiting up today but couldn't ride. Team Manager Mike LaRocco says the injury doesn't require surgery but Eli will now probably take a week or two off before getting back on the bike. "We'd like him to get in a full week of riding before he comes back to race," said LaRocco. "Now that we've missed two rounds there's no reason to rush."
Get well soon, guys!
UPDATE: 7:00 pm -- Josh Grant has decided to give it a shot afterall, he's going to come out for opening ceremonies and see how the shoulder feels, and then might line up for his heat.
