Huffman Wins FirePoliceMX Title
Los Angeles Police Officer and former AMA Supercross/Motocross Champion, Damon Huffman earned his fifth National Championship this week at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. Damon wrapped up the 2013 FirePoliceMX Grand National Championship by winning every round of the Open Expert class.
“I didn’t think I would have to work that hard,” said Huffman after some fierce battles with Morgan Hill PD’s Billy Jurevich earlier in the championship series at Pala Raceway. The 1998 US Open was Huffman’s last championship. He also won the 1994 and 1995 West Coast 125 Supercross and 1997 World 250 Supercross Championships.
“It’s great to see some of the past heroes of the sport wearing a badge after their professional riding days,” said event promoter, Ed Wilson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “Last year former ECC rider, Dennis Ewing (Oceanside, CA Police Officer) won the Championship.”
The Fire & Police MX Nationals offer over 25 classes for all ages and skill levels. Civilian races can win championships in the Support Classes.
FirePoliceMX Racing invites all riders to attend the Christmas Grand Prix/Toy Drive at Glen Helen Raceway on December 10, 2013. Donations of gift cards from Best Buy, Target or Walmart are used to buy “Wish List” toys for the kids at the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The toys are donated at the annual “Big Air Kids Fair”.
