@ rickamatuzio Great race !!!!
We just got out of the track and are heading to eat full cast in tow.............LOL! No sprint here .. LSD
Marathon here only need apply ................ Milsaps hurt his knee this week and will be on a very steep slippery slope south............ Changing of the tide..........Marvin looked smooth esk as if he were Pichone-Pourcel bacon wrapped croissant........
RV back on top and on his way to being a 3 time SX champ. Props to DM for holding on to the points lead for 9 races.
@ BD25 WISH you could of made it ...I think Mr-Mx called your name a handfull of times this week....I'm sure you will lay it down in your usual post ! Keep up the great work !
Marvin, 4th last year riding the 350, 1st this year on the 250. Marv knows Daytona.
Yep, another great race! I don't think anyone thought DM would have the points lead as long as he did. He has lots to be proud of. Also great ride by Roczen tonight. No one was gonna stop RV tho, that's for sure..
The results at Daytona are most likely the running order this summer outdoors.. Hard to argue against the Ryan's with barcia in the mix.. Hope dungey can go after villo real soon
Exciting times in SX. Marvin with a nice win, Roczen looked real good at times! I like the fact that there is some foreign content in this series. Those Euros are fun to watch.
oh ya......when RV has a front end he can trust he's close to unstoppable in SX . Very aggressive.
Also glad to see RD have a good night. Can he parlay this ride into a good second half or where his results tonight due to the fact it was Daytona? RD is great at simply outlasting guys in long races.
Movin Marvin Congrats, RD5 still consistant RV now needs to keep it on 2 wheels
Way to go Musquin!!!!!!!
Roczen and Tomac represented well,
The inevitable happened RV is on top of SX standings and Milsaps will now fade in the standings, he did a great job to hold on as long as he did.
To bad Dungey didn't dump the air shock sooner, He may closer in points to RV right now.
Reed is magically better after dumping the air forks for conventional.
It was Great to see PASSING for the 1st time this season.
does anyone know if RV is running the airforks or converntional????
he started the season on air forks right?
All is right with the world.
Good racing, glad there is no f-gate for posters to get wound up about. RV and Hahn earned it tonight. Would have liked to have seen the Decotis pass from 5th to 3rd in his heat, please GoPro?
@ Not4show
Good point on the passing. Was a lot of good action going on all over the track.
Maybe the big picture for SX should include more of these hybrid tracks on the infield of race tracks. Big grandstands and longer tracks. Definitely better when the races are 25 mins long, with good dirt and great racing. Perhaps they should start to roll in some more Daytona style set-ups in the coming years. WOuld love to see half the series on similar tracks.
@Not4 - RV has been running the Showa air fork all season. He had it tougher than the Honda boys because Kawi had been running KYB prior. So he had no 2012 settings to fall back on. He has made it work and made a t-clamp change two weeks ago, looks like he has the air fork figured out. I ask the posters to not give any titles away yet, there are 175 points up for grabs still and every racer is only a bad corner or heat race from a revised schedule so let's enjoy every race and see where the boys are at when April is over and all rigs are headed to Vegas.
I gotta say that RVs bike looked so incredibly balanced. My wife had also mentioned how good and stable it looked. Just an FYI, she knows what she is talking about as she was a top womens WMX/WML racer and very picky about her own suspension!
Really love seeing the mix up of riders in the top. Wish Reed had a better night but he still did well after his ghost ride.
Loved Hahn taking it to Wilson too. Marvin was on another planet off of the start though,,,,and then GONE>....
Alot more riders than I expected dropped off the pace early tonight. 3/4 of the field were not ready for Daytona's gnarlyness.
This is also one time I would of liked to hear a Stewart or a Wilson interview after the race.....what happened boys?
And all becomes right in 450 SX...
Like i said in a thread before the race. This track had the Ryan's written all over it. It was about fitness and speed, which those two have plenty of. Barcia rode great also. Would have liked to have seen Reed start top 5 and see what he could do.
And FYI, Tomac is running the spring fork in his 450. Said in the Matthes post race pulpcast that he "hates" the air fork. I found it funny that he just straight up said it. No fuc** given by Tomac. lol Especially for it being Honda's big day and all. lol
The fastest and strongest rider won! Period! RV is no joke! He gave them two chances to get him with his mistakes and he still came back. He definitely wants to win. I have to give him that. Stewart just didn't seem to try at all. No urgency to race and get to the front like when he was younger! Reed at least showed some effort moving up as much as he could. Dungey and Barcia were there but no dice! Couldn't run RV down. It's over if they can't get a fire lit under their butts and get going. I'm talking about Dungey and Millsaps! They both need to get those starts because there is no way of me seeing them run down RV if they start behind him like that! Kiss the championship goodbye, fellas! This was all Villopoto needed. Just keeping winning and getting into these guy's heads. The freight train has started and I don't think its going to stop..
Yeah, not many looked like they had the fitness to go 20 laps. Only a very few charged late into the race. Some even looked like they were whipped, not just fading. Didn't expect Millsaps unable to catch Tickle even with a bum knee. RC commenting on Tickle falling over if he goes any slower was classic......another reason that Davi HAS to get by him in that race.
Oh and between Barcia, Dungey and RV....looks to be a good base for a great outdoor season.
Well luck out time is over now and the MAN is sitting on the throne as it should be. The only question is which one of those other dudes are running for second.
I have to take my hat off for RV1, what a sprinter he can be. The points race has really tightened up. Now to see if RV1 Can avoid any trouble knowing DM18 and RD5 are nipping on his heels. I wouldn't hand the trophy to RV1 just yet, still a ton of racing to go. You got to love it!!! Finally a race that wasn't 15 min long. Feld you really need to think over the 20 min + 2 format. or experiment with something to lengthen the races a bit..It's 4am now I got to go to work. I hate daylight savings (spring foward) I lost an hour of sleep. Oh well the racing was worth it!!
Best race so far this year. 24+ minutes time to take a look at a change in the format, 20min +2 seems like a good solution.
The moment Marvin's HOLESHOT!!!!!!!!! #2 Reed looking like he was racing!!!
#3 4strokes are too heavy for the 250 guy to pickup! #4 Jeremy Martin!
BD25 can take over from here.
Correction 28+ minutes
I agree 20 + 2. It showed better racing last night. Gave a rider a chance to come back. Reed would have never got back up and finished 5th. It showed who was in shape. I think Honda next year will be JB and ET. TC just not look comfortable out there.
I think the latest rumor is ET to Geico's 450 replacing Windham...
@Jammin' George-Jeremy Martin finished 3rd! Look again!
Does anybody know why Dean Wilson went backwards after running up front with Marvin? Arm pump? Where did Jeremy Martin come from??? Alex Martins Brother? Good ride for him!!!
Total butt kicking out there... RV will go on to win his 3rd straight supercross title..Millsaps must be injured from getting slammed by Canard last week.. He is faster than 10th.. Roczen faded like I said he would, after guys saying he could win... But there are so notobles missing from the comment section.. Where did they go!!!!!!!
THEY are suddendly silent!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!
Man I wish that ACL would heal up already!!!!!
After the ATL race, Matthes used his podcast to go on a 5-min rant belittling J. Martin. This was in response to being called out by Alex Martin concerning Steves criticism of his brother. He carried on about JM DNQing his first SX ever and only getting 5th in the worst field in years in his second.
Does anyone think that Matthes is man enough to give those same 5-mins to congratulating Jeremy on his steady progress each week? Do you think he will acknowledge that JM worked his boy-toy (Deano)? I didn't think so.
@Not4Show....Dungey might be closer to RV in points if he would have dropped the air shock sooner?? What are you talking about? Dungey was the same old Dungey before he switched back to the spring shock. Don't make excuses for the guy. The only way Dungey will ever win this SX series is if the fast guys get hurt/or are hurt. That's how he's done it before. Just stating facts.
@uneasy_rider......wish in one hand, schIt in the other and see which one becomes reality first.......dude, ACL's don't heal, they must be surgically fixed.
JS7 and his knee can handle "regular" supercross, but daytona and the outdoors is where he did, and will, fail miserably as his knee will not be strong enough to handle the pounding.
Congrats to MM.....he was definately "Movin" last night .KILLER HOLESHOT!!!!!!
RV and RD showed who the alpha males are in 450 SX. This was a prelude to the outdoors for sure. The title is now RV's to win or lose. RD will overtake DM for second (1st loser) No haters please as I am a HUGE Dungenator fan, but facts are facts and you've got to admit that "Poto" is the man when it comes to SX.......Outdoors is another discipline however.........The Dungenator will retain his #1 plate for 2013! My prediction.
Mnfan, I have to agree with you. I have heard Mathees dis J-Mart last year, already. When he was riding fresh off an injury. I haven't been a fan of Mathees since. I will say that RacerX should give him the boot, and hire Billy Disney aka BD25. BD has a very open mind and tells the story as it is without dising anyone. The way a professional writer would/should be...
@bucky394. I don't think they should fire Matthes. He has more general knowledge of SX/MX than most. I just think he should be held to basic journalistic standards. The only platform I have to express that opinion is the RacerX comment sections.
I think that the ACL injury will help JS7 in the long run. For the most part he has the keep it on two wheels and is working his way back to the front rather than playing the human lawn dart. I must say that his bike did not look like it was working well at all.
On RD's shock, He actually liked the air shock as well or better, the reason they quit using it is it blew out and the risk on a repeat was too great.
On air forks I have noticed that the older a rider is the less they adapt to them (with the exception of JS) CR has had the worst time, with RV struggling as well. I frankly don't like them because I ride with two buddies with new Kawi's and they both have blown them and don't like them.
But what do I know- I am an old fart on a 08 crf (still love it)- its funny the old carbed bike puts out 55.6 hp stock and the 013's put out 51.6
@SeventiesRacer
Once again, I have to spell it out for someone. Its called being cynical, if you are on here much, you would realize I am not a fan of his. Just trying to make a funny. Obviously it went over your head.
Matthes journalism is about as real,as our president being a u.s. citizen...Let's see a degree/birth certificate from either one...waiting?......that's what i thought!.....Hi's journalism is @ a grade school level @ it's best.......Thank god he's 500 pounds and takes up to much of the TV screen,or he would probably be doing some kind of broadcasting......like swinging from ferry's nut's.....like i said B4 i give Carmichael 1 more year with H&H Tops.if they don't produce he will be taking his name and whatever left of his cred and walking.......Ralph Mouth/Punk Rock just don't mix......
If you don't have a degree, then you should have at least raced @ this level for a period of time....
@uneasy_rider......OK, my bad. In the context of all the other comments that are posted I did not get the sarcasim. Thanks for the call out........
@kliffwalker. "Educated MX/SX Rider" is an oxymoron. We have heard enough podium speeches to know that racers with a basic grasp of the english language are few and far between. RC is a perfect example. He is there because he is the GOAT...Period.
Hopefully we will be seeing more of Kdub in the future.
@MNfan- yeah, OK, a litttle hard on Matthees, but he doesn't always know what he is talking about. But, then again niether do I, but I own my business, so I can't get fired! lol. I am from Mn. also, if you hadn't caught that, I know a lot of people. I raced in the early eighties, mostly SE Mn. Spring Creek, Midway, Elco, etc. And you? Any chance I know you? Small world, they say. Do you know the Martin family? I knew pretty much everyone from the Rochester area, that raced back then. Still consider all of them good friends. Definatley some of the best times!!
@SeventiesRacer
No problem, I just don't want to get mixed up with the JS7 cult, LOL!
@bucky394. I am a Minnesotan via Michigan. Did my racing back in the 80s in district 14. Was awesome to see Bowen, Warren, Stanton, Larocco (IN), Swink, Dehoop... go through their amateur careers. I am not claiming that I "competed" with them but I can say that I have been roosted on by "6-time" as he was lapping me. I usually get to the Spring Creek National and occasionally stop at Grantsburg to catch a race.
Probably the most fun racing we've had all season. Just can't beat Daytona when it's dry. It really makes all the tracks before it look quite boring.
I think RV is one of the most determined athletes I've ever seen. To me, that is his secret.
Go win this next one RD!!!!!!
davey millsaps arm must still be bothering him..i think he would have done better if not for his arm.
Bucky394
It was the moment #4 Jeremy getting a 3rd
The moment according to JaminGeorge
@Davidl-- I think your dyno is off--no 450's in that date put out that much power..from what I read the 2008 made around 52 horsepower..What the newer bikes bring is they dont sign off so early, and hold the power longer, and therefor more managable.... They just make better power earlier and hold it longer..
