The next race for the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Team is expected to be the Monster Energy Cup on October 20, 2012 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. SPEED will broadcast the action live starting at 10:00 p.m. (EST). Good luck Justin, I think those Yamaha's jjust have a bad deal with the new desiegn. Wish I could work on them. I saw you ride at Kahoka MO. at Mike's track a long time ago and that was a good track. Ya Iv been around for a while, its a trough sport.
Awesome to see one of the "good guys" get a ride. Justin is a working class motocrosser, a guy who has worked for every ride he's got, and a guy who doesnt quit or quit on his team. Riding through his injuries in SX was inspiring for any fan, spectator, rider, or competitor. Good to see him rewarded with a multi year deal as well. In a sport notorious for one (and done) year deals, it's cool to see Justin and others start getting the respect tey deserve with multi year deals.
I don't see why JGR can't get a jump on the 2014 model by having the WR450 homologated and start building a few of those for MX service.
It's pretty clear that they are leaving the current design behind and why not start rebuilding today rather than going through the motions only to be where you could've been a year ago?
Also, JGR's R&D and Fab capability could be used to great effect now before the production run is finalized and maybe help Yamaha build a better mousetrap. Plus, a JGR tweaked WR450 would be a sight to see, probably as close to works as we're gonna get nowadays.
I know the Japanese are big on "not losing face" but, we all know they are dumping the 2010-2013 YZF450 design so, let's get on with it. I'll bet Justin Brayton would appreciate it.
CARLSBAD : An even better idea would be to get a true 2009 frame and engines and use them.... the WR450 does have different frame specs and the engine is different ,but the 2009 was a proven winner and then you could have JGR tweek the suspension and engine to get them up to speed....I do not understand way they have not done this already.
I think for 2014 they are running the engine upside down.
Im sorry but i think the whole Yamaha thing is just BS. You think Yami's suck huh? Go say that to Ryan Hughes's face, he'd drop kick your sorry asses. People used to be able to blame Stewie's bad performances on the bike, but just look at what happened to him in the nationals this summer. Sorry but thats just the way i see it. Been riding YZ's my whole life i love them.
Im not dissing Bubba I've been a fan of his forever, but i think the Yamaha's are getting a bad rap.
Great to have a ride but I man contemplate pulling out a big revolver or something.
Looking forward I hope it works...........Brayton must be thinking what just went down 2012........with the big red...........WOW................Such is life !
This is like winning the Lotto and taking the lump sum and loosing it all in 1 year .
@cxd56
Ryan Hughes got muscled around by Michael Lapaglia after he called him out, then he cried like a girl. Not really the guy I would be idolizing.
alright well maybe Hughes should stop being a little b!tch
hope justing does good, we'll see, maybe he can take the speed he had on a honda to the jgr team but idk, it seems like every rider that rides the jgr bike gets torn up, grant, bryne js7 milsaps last year and this year, hopefully the team can have some success and avoid the injuries.
Factory Honda ...to.... ole whirlwind.....bummer.
@texag
Really.. I heard they were going to run the motor 2 inches from the rear shock and have the exhaust come out by the forks. LOL.
Bet he feels like he just got punched in the gut!!!
carlsbad ...My guess is the 2014 comes out REAL early!!!
cxd56 ..Do you live under a rock??
The 2009 was a proven winner because.......Stewart won the SX title on it? Would the 2010-on bike be awesome if he had won it? He has won on it, what, 7 AMA SX races in 2011-2012 and at least 1 in 2010 before injury? Sorry but Stewart is quickly making the Suzuki (a proven winner multiple times over) look very similar to the typhoon Yamaha. He's won twice on it and fallen off it about 10 times? Sound familiar? Really, Brayton and Grant had better results on the Yamaha than they did on the bikes they had last year. Let's also pay attention to what Millsaps does now on a proven winner, compared to how he did on the typhoon jalopy this year before injury.
@billC no i live in san diego i ride pala once a week
Who's better than justin brayton???-----no one!!! my man is padding his bank account even further, and bringing muscle milk with him!! my man will never have to work another day in his life if he is smart with his $-----all those years of work has paid off!!!----good job!!
Whats with Muscle Milk's obsession with Brayton?
I think you guys that think the YZF is the problem are mistaken. Who has been on the bike at a factory or semi factory level that can win consistently? No one. And if the Bubba huggers come out and say Bubba is that guy I'll laugh in your face. Grant, Brayton, Regal, Milsaps... all great riders (okay, except for Regal and Grant) and they at least had a podium here and there. And we all know Booba put the bike on the box when he wasn't daydreaming and whiskey-throttling the bike all over the track.
Brayton could barely be in the top 5 on a factory honda... if he throws up on himself next year with JGR it's certainly not the bikes issue. Same with Josh Grant - he's not exactly a consistent threat to podium.
Ask Ping or anyother test guys about the Yam 450, They ALL say it is an odd duck!! Take a look at how fat they are also. WAY to many people have said it for it to not be true to me.

@ farscape40, rules prohibit bikes older than a few years competing but, I like where you're going with that and I have no doubt that a steadily improved '09 would have been a better, more-competitive-at-the-pro-level, bike than the 2010-2013 version.
@ BillC, not soon enough for Brayton. In any case, it will be delivered too late to be homologated for the SX season. MAYBE in time for the MX campaign.
Yamaha's situation is typical of corporations. They won't say a thing to harm sales of the current model (even though EVERYONE knows it's a turkey) and will continue to push an inferior product* to their customers until there is another option available with their brand on it. If they were a pharmacutical company, they would get sued.
I feel bad for Yamaha customers.
Also, I question JGR's commitment to winning with their decision to keep campaigning the current model. I think at this point they are just taking the Yamaha checks and going through the motions until the factory provides a solution.
They're not dumb, they've probably already had this meeting and decided, in a down economy, to not spend their efforts (code word: money) on making the WR into a MX bike when discretion dictates they sit on their hands and wait out the storm.
Brayton is one of the good guys and severely under rated. I don't know what happened this year...he showed some promising results and then competely fell apart. Not sure if it's mental, physical (injuries), or just bad luck - but he really deserves a great year and I'm hoping he has one with JGR!
As for the bike - it has some negative characteristics. That is a fact. But the 450F has negative characteristics in general when compared to the 250 smokers and riders did a relatively good job of adapting to the switch. Brayton seems to have gotten along just fine with the reversed YZ so I don't see the bike posing any problems for him.
