Although James Stewart isn't racing Southwick this weekend, we found him putting in some laps in CA today in preparation for his return back to racing.

If Bubba is just in it for fun this year why not go race Southwick, it sure looks like it would be fun to me.
He's too far over the bars to have a finger on the clutch! Pick you poison I guess? If he were to run the lever down so he could keep a finger on it when over the bars he wouldn't be able to reach it when sitting......love his style over the bars but a finger on the clutch would sure help in the crash department!
BTW......hand looks pretty good to me......
I saw plenty of finger on the clutch several times through the vid. MXoN member hopefully.
I'm completely baffled. How many riders have been injured in practice crashes? It's not like he's coming off a prolonged recovery from surgery and getting up to speed. He has just as much chance getting injured jacking around at Elsinore as he does racing at Southwick. If you're hurt rest. If you're not race. I've been a fan but this is getting old.

He should NOT be allowed to represent the USA at the Nations because of the simple fact that he wanted to sit on his arse most of the summer claiming his hand was hurt. Do some digging and you will see many top riders ride with busted up knuckles, fingers and even wrist. Hes just a P\/22y :) No MXoN for you!

Wow! obviously he has a finger on the clutch when he's using it! It's when he's not using it that he should have a finger on it....you know....in case he needs it in a hurry......

I agree with you, KELSTER. I know if I could ride anywhere close to that level, I'd be on that gate every weekend. But, I think for James, it's not fun for him if he can't win.
Hurt or not who cares at this point, the whole reason he's been off pace for the last 3 years is bc he could never get the rediculous yam dialed in to where he's comfortable like he once was...ie him and now kyle regal too. The guy isn't even getting paid to ride until january, so why not get the bike totally dialed in now in time for mxdn, even with short time on this bike dude looks the smoothest he has since 08' by far

@ snooze, totally agree. I said during the Supercross season IMO " Unless James feels 100% that he can and will win, he will not show up " He does not have a true racers heart anymore.
A racer loves to be on the gate.
A racer wants to win, especially when not 100%, being counted out or the deck is stacked against him. There is no pressure to win a championship. Hell Dungey would probably let him go and take some motos or overalls wihtout a fight.
A racer wants to win, when the guy who has been dominating the series has every right to beat him. The racer shows up to prove he is the best racer.
It just seems that JS7 and team find more reasons not to race when there may be damage done to his image in the form of a loss.
He looked like he was riding awfully fast to me.

Personally I'm sick of all the coverage this guy gets on this website and he barely has raced this year. He's old news this year. If he comes out and races and runs up front next year then give him is coverage. But until then, do stories on the racers that are actually RACING.
Stewart is the biggest joke in this sport, It doesnt matter what team he is on or bike he rides, Its plain FACTS, his track record doesnt lie. Im so sick of this kid and how the media is always there to defend him no matter what he does, They over expose this kid every chance they get.

Stewart went 4 and 0 in the beginning of the season but since then has gone 0 and 12 and after this weekend will be 0 and 14 !!!

You don't have to be a hater to criticize a guy when he's too hurt to race at Southwick but is out turning hot laps in sunny southern California.
I have defended him in the past but it's getting tougher to do. He's like the neighborhood kid who threw the baseball over the fence or took his football home when he couldn't win. What would happen if all the racers stayed home when they realized they couldn't run up front unchallenged? RD is a tougher cookie to crack than an over the hill Tim Ferry.
Looked like his suspension was reasonably fluid, but his rear rebound was a little quick. If I somehow went that fast, my suspension would be klunking off bottom every corner so what do I know?
it is a whole different story on a healing body riding on mostly hard pack vs one of the toughest sand tracks. maybe he knows his wrist at this point cant take that abuse. fitness wise he seems to know what is up because he held on at beginning of nationals (although by his skin of his teeth) when we all (myself included) seemed to think he wouldnt have the stamina to be up front at the beginning of the year. yes i am also dissapointed he is not at southwick; its not like sand is a weakness of his.

You guys say James is a bad image for the "sport" as you like to say it. But talking down on riders is great for the image. Thats what we are a bunch of shit talkers. The comments about the bike drive me nuts. Remember when he couldn't get the Kawasaki KX250 2 stroke dialed in or how about the issues he had with the KX450. He has always blamed bad results on his bike, and remember every top rider to use the Suzuki won championships on it. I for one will be stunned if he finishes a season on it much less a championship. Don't blame the bike, blame the rider. Incredible rider but he has no respect for the fans and no respect for his teams.
So much baseless speculation. Few of you know what is involved in getting a race team from coast to coast. When a rider is working on coming back from an injury you can't plan ahead and say okay he'll be ready to race in "x" days so we know exactly when to make our flight reservations, rental cars, hotel rooms etc., and get our semi on the road. In fact it was a team decision to miss this weekend and be ready for Unadilla. See you there.
I don't hate Stewart just speaking the truth. Go back and watch video of the first two races when Dungey was putting pressure on him. Stewart even said himself at one race if Dungey got out front he didn"t think he could have stayed with him !

All of you bench racers need to get lay off on this guy, he's not even getting paid to ride until january, although the day before 338 is terrible timing to drop elsinore practice footage. Not my favorite racer, but for the love of god stop dogging the guy. Has dungey, reed, or rv2 ever even come close to a perfect season?...uh no....only the goat and this guy....not to mention that minus a moto1 pile up at red bud a few years ago and stewart would have a perfect 125 season also....something that even the great amateur 25+ champion RC never even came close to doing.......just saying
You guys really don't think he actually is listening to his doctors about his recovery, just like RV, TC, etc are doing? Doing some testing at a track and racing one of the roughest tracks on the circuit are 2 totally different things. What would be his benefit to miss Southwick and to come back at Unadilla, besides more recovery time on his wrist? Just becasue RV and TC are back riding again, and most likely going very fast, do you think they are going full out hardcore? They will be back when they are ready, and not until then. In a sport where thenths of seconds matter, it is important to be 100% if you want to be up front. I'm no JS superfan, but for some of you JS can do no right, no matter what he does, and its very clear to other posters that it stem from pre hate, and even racism, which is sad. If you don't like the video, why even watch it, why even comment? All I hear is he fakes injuries, has no love for the sport, etc? RV falls over in a corner at 5 mph, no one questions he is injured. JS cartwheels in 5th gear and of course he is faking an injury even though he tried to race with it injured. RV just said on an interview that he would be ready for the last few Nationals, but he won't becasue he didn't feel he could run Dungey's pace. So if he can't win, then not go? He also stated that he would not be interested in going to the MXoN, becasue he had nothing to gain by going, and specifically said he wasn't getting paid for it. You hear nothing from the peanut gallery on here about that though, but imagine if JS had said that? I like RV just as much as I like JS, so its not like I don't like RV, and I don't blame him for his decisions either. Racers have to do the right thing for themselves for their career. Its a shame that these forums are for the most part are posted with such biased posts.

All I here is hate. He crashes all the time. Travis Pastrana Crashed all the time. Probably more then Stewart. No one ever gave him crap for it. I respect all the top riders & I respect there decisions. The man helped changed the sport in so many ways. "The Bubba Scrub" Whether you like him or not, just stop the ridiculous crying. riding a perfectly groomed lake elsinore is nothing like riding southwick, not baggin on him, just saying that probably was a "just go do some laps" and see how it feels, with maybe some testing in there??

Give the guy a break, the guy is coming back from a wrist injury which can be the most complicated of injuries, stop hating on fellow MX riders it is bad for our sport who gives a fu#k if he is not racing, save all your comments for 2013 SX season when we have RV, CR, RD & JS all healthy ready for war!

I think James is just smarter than all the haters. The risk/reward just isn't there for him to race when he's not 100%. The risk of him getting hurt worse goes way up and the reward is nothing more than pride and race time. He will race when he's ready. When he's in the hunt for a championship you will see him risking injury more by riding when he's not 100%.
He chose the right track for being injured cause there don't seem to be many bumps at Elsinore. I hope it gets rougher for the national.
