Dusty Klatt Dominates Ste Julie, Winning the Overall
KTM Duroy Racing Motovan.com’s Kaven Benoit Wins MX2 class
Ste Julie, Quebec – After many weeks of Kawasaki winning the 2012 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals, KTM finally got the victories they have been looking for in both the MX1 and MX2 classes. Thousands of screaming French fans were in attendance cheering on their local KTM riders, as KTM Duroy Racing Motovan.com’s Kaven Benoit took the MX2 class win and KTM Red Bull Royal Distributing Fox Racing’s Dusty Klatt dominated the second MX1 moto taking the overall win for the day.
The 2012 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals has been a season Dusty Klatt would rather forget due to a string of bad luck in each of the first five rounds, however this weekend in Ste Julie, the former MX1 champion was able to turn things around, putting in the ride he was looking for and taking home the MX1 win. Behind him was the current points leader Monster Energy Leading Edge Thor Kawasaki’s Matt Goerke and Rockstar Energy OTSFF Motovan.com Yamaha’s Bobby Kiniry. After suffering a big crash in the morning practice session, Goerke played it safe in the moto’s and was a little off of his usual pace. Klatt’s win has now vaulted him into third place in the MX1 points heading into a week break before round seven.
In the MX2 class, it was hometown favourite Kaven Benoit who thrilled the partisan crowd by taking the win. In just his second national of the season, Benoit has looked so far like he never left and now has two moto wins in his four attempts. The MX2 points leader Monster Energy Leading Edge Thor Kawasaki’s Teddy Maier was no match for Benoit in moto two after suffering a bad start. All Maier could do was try and stay ahead of his closest rival in the MX2 points race, KTM Red Bull Royal Distributing Fox Racing’s Jeremy Medaglia, who grabbed third overall on his KTM.
The 2012 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals now takes one week hiatus before moving to its most Easterly stop at the Riverglade Mx Park in Moncton, New Brunswick on August 5, 2012, for round seven of the nine round Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.
