Should we be counting RV's 2011 accomplishments toward a 2012 award? If this were 2011, I wouldn't even have to ask about the other nominees' accomplishments, because no matter what they were, Villopoto's would be better. But this year he "only" got an SX championship -- and he did it with very little pressure, since everyone wrecked theyselves.
I have to go research Shaun White's and Kelly Slater's and Travis Rice's 2012 accomplishments, so I don't mistakenly slight a better athlete. BRB.
Well, I did some r-search, and it looks like Tony Stewart, the Sprint Cup winner of N-CAR's 2011 season, which ended in Nov., is a 2012 nominee for best driver, which apparently means that RV's 2011 titles do count and that the other action-sports athletes better step the hell back.
It's all jumbled because all these sports' seasons end at different times. So it looks like some athletes get awarded for their 2012 season, some for their 2011 season, and some for their 2011 s. and part of their 2012 s. Fascinating.
I guess I shouldn't bother overthinking this and just vote, since the guy doesn't stand much of a chance anyway. Shaun White's a celebrity.
I would assume that this award thing is at the same time every year so (once again assuming) that you vote based on what they have done since the award was handed out last year, which would Outdoor title, MXdN, Monster Energy Cup and 2012 Supercross title. Not sure why I listed them, you obviously know that. Normally I wouldn't even bother voting, but considering he's going up against Shaun White, mine as well help. I have never heard of the other two nominee's and I'm sure their no slouches.
