Thor Riders Roll The Dice in Vegas
The first weekend in May started off with the season opener of the EnduroCross Series taking place on Friday night in Las Vegas, prior to the final Supercross. Mike Brown showed his speed early in the day, posting the fastest qualifying time during the timed hot lap. Taylor Robert was also showing speed and was able to transfer that into the main event as he finished fifth, while Brown finished sixth.
The next day at Sam Boyd Stadium, the Supercross riders took to the track for the final time this season. In the Supercross class, Jake Weimer was fast all day and was able to put together a solid fourth place result, finishing out the season fifth in the point standings. Broc Tickle rode a great heat race, but had to make up time after a tough start in the main to finish 11th. Brett Metcalfe, who went down in practice and sat out the final practice session, came out swinging in the main event as he held down a top-five spot before a mechanical issue took him out of the race.It was an action packed day for the Lites riders, having to ride a 15-lap main event and then a 10-lap East/West Shootout.
In the Western Regional Supercross Lites main event, Dean Wilson came through the pack from outside the top five to finish on the podium in second. In the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites main event, Blake Baggett also made it to the podium in third. During the final race of the season, the East/West Shootout, Wilson finished 11th, while Baggett finished 12th.
Down in the south, the AMA National Enduro Series convened on Forest Hill, La. for its fifth round of the season. Thor’s Russell Bobbitt was solid throughout the race, finishing fifth overall. Cory Buttrick was forced out of the race early with an injury.
