Very pragmatic view on the whole thing. I like the kid and am very bummed he will not be there fighting for the MX 2012 title.
Hope RV's surgery goes well today.
This kid has a good head on his shoulders. In listening to him you can see why he's a champion. He's sized up the situation for what it is, taken his 15 minutes to be pissed about bad stuff happening, and is now focused forward on a new plan to get on with life. He'll be back strong.
As I've suspected, he won't be back until SX 2013. He's already written off the MXdN and likely the Monster Cup. It's unfortunate, but not surprising.due to the type of injury.
There should be some good racing this summer, but it will definitely be different without him.
RV is a great champion and is already looking forward to the future. Great guy...but his fans are total douche-bags. :)
Thanks for chiming in J_Sloan.
It's tough getting through a day without your always intellectual insight!
It will be an interesting summer without the Raging RedHead......hope he can maintain the focus and fitness and come back even better prepared for 2013.
Go RD.......bring home a Championship for the best bike manufacturer on the planet......you both deserve it!
Well that sums it up I guess...... RV is a cool kid and his quiet confidence is what I like most...He knows what he needs to do........Little repetative during the interview.....but I think he may need the break anyway....comingback from his leg injury, he has been full throttle 100% , training and racing....winning SX, MX, Monster Cup, MXDN, Getting Married and then winning SX again only to have this injury happen......he will be back.....and pick up right where he left off....and the boys know it...
He will be on fire in 2013!!!! He will beat or equal at the very least MC & RC's record of most wins in SX season.. I am stamping it!
Not one bad thing to be said about RV1. He is a true champion both on, and off the course. He is not my favorite racer, but he is one I will always root for......
Hmmmmm.......maybe he can moonlight as a PR mentor for the Geico 250 team racers. Wah Wah could use an adult perspective on how to act AFTER THE CHECKERED FLAG.............just sayin.
Get well RV, MX / SX needs you, and, us fans love to watch you race.
Man its gonna be tough to endure another season without the planets best racer. Ive always looked up to RV and hopefully hell come back stronger than ever for 2013. But please Ryan whatever u do bud make it to the outdoors next year man. We miss u bud. Oh and I found this interesting, the #1 plate is cursed. Think 1. RV gets hurt wearing it, '11 Dunge has everything go the wrong way, '10 Stewart breaks his rist and Chad does bad along with getting mono, '09 Chad loses the SX title to Bubbles and no one wore #1 outdoors, finally '07 Langston gets that career ending eye injury. Let RV wear a red #2 next year like Ricky wore a red #4. Go RV ur the next GOAT buddy!
Seems like he is looking at this in a positive way , ...He is not as bummed out as his fans are , sounds like he is welcoming the break .. Why do some of you keep calling him a Kid , he is a grown married man ... show some respect
So he needs 24 + weeks to recover, seems a bit long.
Must be worse than they thought
Doesn't have to worry about setup changes, just leave SX and start 2013 SX.
I'm sure the rest, spend time with the new wife, chilling will only make him stronger in 2013. The break seemed to have helped CR.
Now JS, the time off seems to only make him worse.
Enjoy the time RV
@preston.... I dont anyone means any disprespect by calling him a kid, bad habit I guess.....I still refer to RC as a kid sometimes and he is in his 30's like me.....I used to race and remember seeing RC, K-Dub, Stewart when they were "kids", same with RV......I even raced with RC and K-dub back in the amateur days.....Mammoth Mountain MX.....man those were the days..... Having RC rail past me on an 80 was pretty cool.....
I bet he'd be "dwelling" and straight up pissed if he hadn't already wrapped up the SX title.
No worries RV. Take the summer off, enjoy being a newlywed, and in 17 yrs. we'll have Ryan Jr. to watch at the track!
On the bright side, he gets some well deserved time off. Not to worried about how he will be when he returns, we've all seen how he rebounds from injuries...
@AGMAN- 24 weeks is about right. I work for an ortho sports doctor and 8 months is usually the target. That's why I was so suprised to see Josh Grant come back from his ACL surgery so early last year and not suprised when he re-tore the same ACL after a couple of races back.
Golfyoda......THE MAJOR PROBLEM with this country is POLITICALLY CORRECTNESS. That shit needs to go away ( along with our dictator Obama). The kids should be able to ACT ANY DAMN WAY THEY PLEASE. TFB if people don't like it.
I think he is messing with everyone, he was sitting in the chair with both his knees bent, in long pants!
2003RACER8M....Great call shizzlestick....I have an idea....next time you and your bi-curious buddies are hanging out in the trailer park plotting your rebellion against the Obama regime, try to calm yourself with some tattoo therapy, and a little vacation planning....one way flight tickets to Syria could be well within your budget...and the simple word "red" would look great on the back of your neck
Good try Volcom, that video had plenty of cuts and edits. But, candid and uncut sounds more enticing than "7 Mins w/ RV".
Maybe all involved think this helps mitigate the twitter lies earlier this week from RV and Kawi.
The races wont be the same w/o The Champ, hope he heals quickly
@2003racer 8m... Take your politics somewhere else , this site is about racing , no one cares what your political beliefs are .
Great rider. Curious as to if he had a knee brace on? I am guessing he didn't. Not to smart knowing he has hurt his knee before if he didn't a brace on to support it now.
Bummer for all of us, but he's taking it well. Just wondering though if Dungey is already seeing dollars signs for himself this season!
Have to also make an honorable mention to RV's miniature bulldog who made an appearance in the left side of the frame during the interview LOL.
Had he not got got hurt, I think he would have won everything again like he did last year. Supercross, Motocross, MXON, and Monster Cup. If he came up short of winning all those titles again, I know he would have been damn close.
Get well soon RV, was hoping to see some good racing this summer with RD. Hopefully no one else will get hurt, before the nationals begin, injuries suck and at least your taking it well!
He has a positive out look on this situation and that will help him get through it. He also knows what needs to be done to get to the top again. 1/4 seasons Outdoors, gotta be hard especially for this year coming in as pretty much the guy who everyone thought would win. @J_Sloan - I think your right, me and my fellow RV fans like to call out people who are saying anything that isn't good about the guy, sorry. :-)
