Aaaaaaaand...no surprises.
Did Cairoli stick with the 350?? I know he tested the 450. What happen to CP??
Cairoli rode the 350 and simply smoked ´em. He lives 5 kms away from the track and has developed into an awesome sand rider.
CP was back to his worst again. After a bad start in the first race he pulled out near the end of the event while lying way down the field. In the second event he placed 9th I think. poor showing from a guy who has lost his mojo. He really should pack it in. OK, he´s no sand rider, but at this level that´s not an excuse. These guys should be able to ride on any surface.
In the MX2, Herlings was simply in a different class to the rest. He beat Searle by a minute in the first race, and simply cruised to the win, although I expect Searle to give him a harder race in Bulgaria on the hard stuff in two weeks time.
Good first ride by Roelants on the works Kawa. He should keep Searle honest this year.
Exactly as expected, including the 0-12 from CP377.
All these idiots who thought that somehow he could be a player in Nationals.
and again KTM destroys everyone....
Actually Pourcel had the holeshot in the first moto and then he slowly went backwards and finally retired with no reason, what race did you watch?
Actually Pourcel used to be a decent sand rider. He finished on the podium before in Lierop in the mx2 class.
It just looks like he´s starting this season like he started last season.
I think he´s going to win some races this year but will be nowhere close to fighting for the championship.
In timed practice, Herlings was 2 seconds quicker than Cairoli. Won his motos by 36 and 54 seconds. And Roczen beat this guy regularly?? Awww, outdoors gonna be good. Well, some people aren't going to be happy.
I think CP exerted himself to such an extent recovering from his injuries too fast (and beyond, to dominate 250 racing here for 2 years) that he burnt himself out. It has happened before......
Kenny Roberts once said that you have 10 years racing at the highest level, no matter when you start, because of what it takes out of your psyche. And if you overdraw on this, then even less. In 1985 Freddie Spencer (GP road racing, now MotoGP) contested both the 500 and 250 classes simultaneously (they ran back to back on raceday). Both were hard fought series and Erv Kanemoto urged him to quit. Spencer stayed with it and won both GP championships. But that was it; he was never the same. Triggered carpal tunnel, but the biggest change was in his approach to racing. It broke him. He had been a well-conditioned choir boy. After '85 he didn't train, he was unreliable, and lacked focus. A shame too because, love him or hate him, he was an absolute genius on the bike. Awesome technique. Excuse followed excuse. He was done.
Lots of parallels with CP.
Yes Roczen beat this guy regularly but NOT in the sand. The dude flat out hauls butt in the sand.
I´m happy with the results, Rui Gonçalves from Portugal (my country) is on a god position in championship points. 7th Overall and 4th in second moto is a good indicator that he is a good rider to represent Factory Honda. And a good sand rider.
In MX2 Herlings is INSANE riding in a sandy track... Next spot: Bulgaria.
@billc is right, Herlings killed everyone last year at the sand tracks. It seems like he should be able to win the championship this year, but as we've seen in SX you never know what will happen. Cairolli is the man to beat as well, but maybe DeSalle can pull of some wins for us Suzuki fans!
I don't see Zach Osbourne on the list...I hope he didn't get hurt. Even if he didn't, not the way you want to start off the year.
Yeah, Herlings even waxed Roczen the last few years on the sand tracks, definately one of the fastest sand riders in the world right now. But, this race may be the sign of the season to come or it may not be. Its the first race of the year, and it's a "specialty" track. Once they have a race or two on the type of tracks(soil wise) that they will see the majority of the season will give a better overall of where the riders stand. I do think CP will win some races this year. In contention for the title, who knows, but he did dig himelf a little hole this weekend.
Mr. Bones, Zach got hurt a few weeks ago testing and was questionable if he was going to ride last weekend. Looks like he didn't race. Think it was a shoulder injury if I recall, not sure.
I watched this race last night. (pretty boring) But ya know I have been a pourcel fan for many years. They interviewed his mecahnic and he said Pourcel was sick. But ya know, it is soo disapointing. He looked like he was not trying at all. His mechanic said "we trust him, he is a champion". I am starting to lose hope. I understand he has been through alot and rides not to get hurt. But he is letting down alot of people.
Enough of that. Roelants was a plessant suprise. More laps in the first moto and he would of went 2-2. Herlings was great. But he seems to struggle a little mentally. I hope he is confident and wins this championship this year. In contrast Searle always seems to be over confident :P
In MX1 Cairoli looked to have everything under control. I have no doubt he could of went faster. Desalle was riding well also. I haven't really seen Frossard race before. But his whole style seems like messy. He looks very awkward to watch and u tend to think he could crash at any time. He was fast, but yeah I dunno if that is just how he is all the time. 4.Gautier Paulin was only a tad bit off the pace. I think he may suprise people this year.
Also that triple was nuts. I loved it. Specially when Herlings was doing it.
Work hard. Villopoto won't be on a 250 this time.....
RV was not on a 250 last time either.
billc shut up....i think his outstanding performance was on the two fifty...go agree with someone.
