Washed out ride days will happen...lol I hope Ryan has alot of success on the KTM, he may be the breakthrough rider that KTM has needed. I had high hopes for Shorty, but he never seemed to "settle in" with the bike. GOOD LUCK IN '12 RD!
That was indeed the fuel injected EXC engine. I couldn't tell for sure if it was electric start or kick only.
come on RD. Anyone notice that the dirt was completely dry underneith the van and yet too wet/rainy to ride... very disappointing for a rider from MN. I respect you a ton RD, but come on, dont be afraid to get your new bike a little muddy.

@northernmxvet He was just making a comparison between the dirt at the Suzuki test track and the dirt at the KTM track. There about a quarter mile from each other, but obviously from what he said the dirt is pretty different.
The Suzuki track is just up the hill from the KTM track, children.

Roger and Dungey a quitter? Ha ha, take your meds. The best environment to test and set up your bike is a dry one and he is still dialing that bike in. Testing in the mud could set him back with wrong choices medtime.

A little rain on top of end of summer blue groove is a recipe for disaster. Theres plenty of time to ride that killer new bike. That thing looks sweet.I can't wait for A1 when all the dudes are back. My favorite video from last year's off season was that RacerX clip of Dungey sx training at...Milesone, I think? That' was a great clip. Think I'll go watch it now, while I wait for some proper footage.

the children with a completely new bike, with completely new suspension etc. you would have Dungey risk of getting hurt?
the track is from SX, an error of four cabbage and break bones (villopo 2010, just a short ..)
Marvin has over here in europe in conditions far worse and the bike knows it well .. it is obvious that he turns and Dungey not.
in any case the bike is very nice and the engine is inizezione Enduro cmq a good engine, very easy and manage ... an excellent starting point for development.
KTM also has to get used to the various regulations, such as gasoline, etc. but once you have found a way its engines will be super (already in the last two races of the National Musquin the bike was like kawasaki procircuit percu no doubt about the potential ktm) .

Dialing a bike in requires a fairly consistent environment. Heck, how many people will go bolt on a dozen parts to their bike or car all at once looking for performance gains? Nope, one at a time and test after each mod.

They are TESTING, it's not very productive to test in wet and slimy conditions. you loose consistency. Dungey didn't call it, KTM called it. I tested for a factory for two years and that's just part of it. If it was MX testing it would be different, But they are obviously SX testing and I would imagine they are doing suspension and chassis work at this point. It would be pretty pointless to do that in the slick.
@ MIGHTY,, well said.. MM is riding because he already knows the bike.. There is really no reason for RD to ride and try and test a new bike when its slick.. Remember, he has until A1 to get the testing done..
@BillC, i'm not on the offensive here at all, but i know that RV is your guy and i'm just curious what it is you have against Dungey? @Tonewall....good post!!
@Whatever I was just jokeing hence the (LOL). I really like RD more and more all the time and I REALLY hope he does well on the KTM. If he finishes 1 point behind RV that would be GREAT!! He is not my Fav rider because I tend to like guys who ride the edge more like RV but that does not mean I do not like or respect RD. Does that clear it up a little?
BUT I also feel that they should be riding. You can ALWAYS learn something. RD has never been a great mud rider so it could not hurt to do some laps in the slick stuff right? But on the Flip side I know they have a game plane and if there are parts on the bike that need to be tested or there looking to figure out something in particular then go home and come back when the track is dry.. Bottom line it was a tese and ofcores people will pick on him.
Looking at the pictures of Dungey RX posted the other day....he looked a little cramped on the bike...looks like he'll need to work on his body positioning since he is on the taller side and ergonomics on the KTM are alot different than the Zook....Im sure he'll do fine.... I am 50/50 on him not riding.....Surely he could have atleast rode a wheelie and got the tires dirty for the camers and hit a jump or two.....Weird...the Suzuki track was on TOP and the KTM is on the BOTTOM....hope that isnt a trend for RD.....Seeing guys jump on new bikes is always cool......looking forward to seeing how he does....if he does well, a whole lot of I told you so's will be flying thats for sure...
wow... being from Massachusetts and an off road rider/racer it made me chuckle when RD thought it was too wet to ride. Around here the conditions of that track would be ideal!! I guess when you are paying $5mil for your rider though you don't want them getting hurt on a stupid crash so I kinda get it..... Makes me wonder how some of these pro riders would do in a New England hare scramble though. Most of them are afraid to get wet or dirty!

No doubt...just a few short years ago dipshit J-Law was baggin' on RD...giving him a hard time.....no look at him....RD is on top of the world and J-Law cant even get to the track......sad....but funny too....he had his oppurtunity to change things as he had potential....but blew it.....
RD didn't say it was to wet to ride; he said that it was too wet for the testing to be practical. If the track is really wet/slippery you're not going to run the bike at normal race speeds to get the bike dialed to where it needs to be.
Also, for those bagging on RD, Simon Cudby said that Marvin only did three laps and then called it a day.
I'm pretty sure Roger and company know what they're doing. ;)

Last year they shot a sx test video at milestone.. I'm not 100% sure but I thought it was in the rain...whatever ...I hate riding in the rain too. But I don't ride the AMA SX either..LOL..Every year one or five of them rains out into a mudder. Good chance to get a setting for those days..Ohh well...Might be just the one race he can win on that bike....he should put a head light on it too..Be an awesome tribute to the KTM desert warrior that thinks orange bikes are actually cool..Then get up on the podium light a cigarrete and pop open a pabst blue ribbon while you rub the 3 hairs on your belly button and talk about the one time you looped out climbing this bad ass hill..make sure you make all the proper engine rev sounds while you spit in my friggin face tellin the story...LMAO ..sorry if i offended ya oops..go pour twenty gallons into ur tank and fireball some straights bra..

@whatever....I know I am outnumbered bro..bigtime. and I have fun with my family and kids at the desert too...I started riding out in the hills and having fun any chance I got..Just trying to be funny we have all met that guy...either in the pits or by a camp fire..LOL I love to race and ride track but enjoy a little play riding too..Its all good and yes I m a obvious blue bike homer..everyone has there seat...I do hope Dungey can win races and a championship more than anyone out there... My boys idiolize him...and he is a great role model for our sport...Just hope he can do it on that bike..
that KTM looks sweet with the black rims and orange hardware. but as a Suzuki fan, so does the Redbull Suzuki with the blue rims, I hope Stewart(never been a fan) ends up on that bike. Next year's going to be awesome!
