MXHeaven Motocross Racing Team Starts Year on Positive Note at Hangtown
Calle Aspegren is only the third Swede ever to earn US National MX Championship points after Gunnar Lindstrom and Nils Arne Nilsson in the 70’s.
The team was well prepared , but the riders were still a little uncertain about how they would fare in US competition. But when it was all said and done, the two of them had placed solidly in the middle of the field of 40 riders. Calle Aspegren finished the day with 4 valuable points and Fredrik Noren was equally competitive, but lost time at the end of the race after being hit with a stone on his right hand and finished 22nd, just out of the points.
The team is being managed by Stefan Elvin and coordinated by Gunnar Lindstrom.
Said Gunnar after the race “What a tremendous opportunity to work with MX Heaven and MX Sports in coordinating this new effort with two talented riders. I can’t say enough about how well organized the event was, certainly a world apart from how I remember things were back in 1972. I can’t wait to see how Calle and Fredrik will do in this new environment,”
The two Swedes, who are living and training at the MXHeaven facility in Perris, CA. were last years top finishers in the Swedish Lights Championship but have elected to enter the US Nationals as opposed to the European Grand Prix series as their next step. They plan to compete in all 12 of the US Nationals this year.
