"We are proud to continue our strong relationship with both NBC and SPEED," said MX Sports Pro Racing Vice President Davey Coombs. Now with the addition of FUEL TV this season, we are even more excited about what the future will hold."

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship adds FUEL TV to the broadcast family for 2011, with more than 39 hours of total coverage on the network. FUEL TV will bring Motocross fans 24 hours of live programming, allowing them the chance to watch the stars of the 250 and 450 classes go bar-to-bar during the opening moto from each race. In addition, FUEL TV will also air 12 weekly one-hour highlight shows, plus a season preview, midseason and recap shows.

The series' widely-popular online coverage will continue as well, allowing enthusiasts to log onto the official website of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship to catch all the opening-moto action at www.allisports.com/motocross.

"Every moto enthusiast now has the opportunity to be a part of the entire day of racing, whether they choose to watch the television broadcast or the live stream, or a combination of the two," said Mark Carter, GM of Strategic Partnerships for Alli Sports. "We're providing more robust coverage this season, and giving our fans a choice of how they watch moto racing. This is a huge step forward for the sport."

Bringing the action into homes across the country is a talented lineup of veteran television personalities. He returns to fulfill the same role in 2011 alongside another familiar name in former AMA Pro Motocross Champion Jeff Emig. "Fro," as many like to call him, gives viewers an insider perspective as to what is taking place in the riders' heads with analysis only a former champion could provide. Rounding out the three-person team is longtime trackside reporter Erin Bates. With considerable knowledge of the sport, Bates will bring viewers the latest breaking news and developing storylines from the starting gate and the pits.

The MOST TV coverage in the HISTORY of the sport ... and the complainers are out immediately! The "bright light" who came up with this, stantdm, was whoever had the responsibility of negotiating with the networks ... and THIS is what they could get. NEWSFLASH: WE'RE NOT THE NFL/NBA/MLB/NASCAR!!!

Its the best coverage wqe have ever had for moto and people are still bit#hing. God there are no pleasing some of these spoiled babies. I can remember waiting an entire week to watch the race, and already knowing the outcome before I got to see it. If they decided to show the race at all. So quit crying, this is pretty darn good.

This is a big NASCAR weekend for SPEED and it just happens to be our opener, so we took a backseat there. But seeing ALL 12 rounds get some live coverage seemed like a good deal for me.... Isn't the NFL on three or four different networks? I think we're doing pretty damn good here.

DC my comment about it being dumb to show the first moto on Saturday and the second a day later is thinking of the casual fan who tunes in to watch a race and doesn't get to see it finish. That is not a good thing for growing the TV audience in my opinion. If your just after us, who would watch it if it were on at three in the morning you did great. I would personally prefer, and it is just my opinion, to watch a brief highlight of the first moto and the entire second moto on Saturday than have the split we have.

DC, what's up with the triple posting? You are using up your own bandwidth!

Thanks for the live first motos. They are usually the most exciting.

I would be happy to tune in 4 hours later for a 30 minute summary of the 2nd motos, interviews, and overall and points updates.

I'm old, been racin and following MX since the late 60's. Bengt Aberg fan. And this the best coverage yet, so, for that i'm not complaining, but they'll never gives what we want, FULL LIVE COVERAGE, unless we complain, so, like or not, complain.

Can somebody help me find a way to a link that shows all the race results, with best lap time, average speed and all this kind of info, a kind of thing you can find on the MX1 official web site for the GP's? I could watch all the SX races on TV here in Italy but they won's broadcast the National races I think.

Profile Picture
sef154 wrote: 8:17am May 19, 2011

@bolobby - Complain, sure, but on here you're addressing the people who are trying to give us the best coverage available by calling them "dumb," "bright lights" (sarcastically), "stupid ass," etc. First of all, name-calling gets you NO WHERE. Secondly, MX Sports is doing the best they can. And lastly, complain to the networks. (But if you call them "stupid asses," you'll get NO WHERE ... but I don’t expect the geniuses out here to comprehend all this.)

Here is a phrase that gets me by when things get rough. This is taken from british cities that were under direct threat of bombing by the Germans during world war two.

The phrase that was posted around the cites read :KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.

Imagine: during a bombing run these people would still manage to keep their focus

and some of us are crying about a TV Schedule! Are we going Backward?

Well.... yeah it's kind crazy.... but we get to see 1st motos LIVE every week... I gotta be honest as crazy as this is I'm really kind of excited to have this much TV coverage.

I agree waiting the next day for moto 2 is going to be somewhat annoying at first but I'm sure by week 3 we won't care....

This is just one step closer to someday being like NASCAR where we get a single channel to just air 5 hours of MX coverage.... but I've been waiting for that for about 30 years now....lol...

@Snowman - The next day thing is only for this week. The rest should be same-day -- some live -- unless another "big day" in NASCAR bumps them. (But it's still waaaaaay better than being bumped by "Hockey Tonight" on ESPN2 a week later!) As for having NASCAR-like coverage ... don't hold your breath. Those who think it should be that way are delusional as to the overall popularity of our sport (much like they are delusional as to their own intelligence). And the funny thing is, when changes are made to try to become more popular, the same crew b&tches; and moans about that!

DC ,

You guys are doing a great job ! Dont know the rating # but Las Vegas broadcast didnt work for me .

BTW , not happy to see the poor turnout at USGP but Nats come first. Luongo and Feldkamp are two smart guys so this scheduling thing stinks . Kinda feels like sour grapes to me.

Too bad we couldnt drop the USGP, give GH a NAT at the beginning of the year , and keep the MXDN. Dont know if SoCal or the teams would buy two a year.

Good job DC keep at it. See you in September !

I just spent 25 minutes on the phone with my cable provider. Comcast doesn't offer Fuel TV! WTF! I've been racing since 1975, went to my 1st National at Fogelsville, Pa in 1976. I HATE this TV package. I don't care about live coverage, just better coverage. What's wrong with Monday night Motocross?

Moto4life it's time to get rid of the cable stuff, they charge too much and don't offer good packages xfinity or satellite would be better if you can get it in your area.

"In my day..............." We were lucky to see a MX race 3 mos. after the fact on 'Wild World of Sports' once a year. Our results and race pics were in 'Cycle News' once a week; or a cycle mag every month. Now it's on tv live, i-net live, or the next day taped. All you young 'whipper-snappers' should all be thankful! To quote Tom Hanks:
"Crying; There's no Crying in Motocross!"

Moto4Life, the first motos were live on allisports.com last year and they are again this year. No difference. Doc, I've got cable and all the channels I want, including Fuel. However you look at it, the coverage this year is as good or better than ever. And people are hung up on this next day thing. That's ONLY FOR THIS WEEK. From here on out, the second motos are SAME DAY, live or tape delay. The horror! Can people just stop WHINING!!!

I didn't like last year either. I work Saturdays and race Sundays, so I have to watch it later anyway. I problem with watching it on the internet is two-fold. It's impossible to go to the website without seeing who won the race, 2nd I would rather watch the race on my 57in TV vs my 17in laptop. Maybe I'm the only fan of this sport that works/races on the weekend, but I doubt it.

My only "complaint" if you can even call it that, is I don't get Fuel TV! But otherwise I join the ranks of many who are stoked to have this much TV coverage. in the mid-90's when the TV coverage was just starting to get serious, I loved the 2-hour format where we'd get BOTH 125 and BOTH 250 motos. it was a full afternoon of racing without having to go to the track. I still have a bunch of those on VCR tape somewhere... HOWEVER, I also remember being pre-empted countless times so that the World Dart Championships could be shown, or some other crap. I'd set my VCR to record, rewind and more often than I can remember it would be anything other than moto. So if I have to split the coverage, but I KNOW I will get to see it when it is supposed to be aired, I'll be more than happy to deal with it. Yes, I would love to go back to the full 2-hour format, but like DC said above, where doing pretty damn good with where we've come. and its only going to get better.

You won't be attracting any new fans with this goofy setup!! I am happy with it and will go through the hassles to watch the races but new people to the sport will get bored and think it's an absurd setup...NOw we are house bound for the entire weekend if we want to see both motos...ONe day someone will get this tv schedule up to modern standards on par with other professional sports..

To watch all four motos live, you'd sit in front of your TV all afternoon on Saturday. That doesn't sound like the hot setup to me! Moto4Life, when races started being shown online (AMA and GPs - though now GPs are pay-per-view), I went to Walmart and bought a cable that hooks my laptop up to my 50" TV. Voila! Racing on the big screen. It's 2011, brother! As for it being too "confusing" for new viewers, how many of those people are going to sit through four hours anyway? If you think about it, each moto is its own race, and can be enjoyed on its own merits. GPs are shown on a local access channel on my cable, but they only show the second motos. Still enjoyable! Stop looking for reasons to complain, and enjoy what we've got!

Profile Picture
canadianmxfan wrote: 6:02pm May 20, 2011

I guess i can't complain but imagine how much joy would go around the world of motocross if it were all live and from start to finish racing on that day..That would be the best!!!

Again, how many people are going to sit there in front of the tube every Saturday from 1pm to around 5 (depending on time zone)? Considering what we've had throughout the years (I've been watching since ABC Wide World of Sports), I think what we've got is pretty cool.

In 1999 - 2001 ESPN 2 showed all of both motos of both clasees (with David Bailey as commentator-even better) - now we have this crappy TV coverage - way to go AMA - you screwed up a good thing again. And I still hate the name motocross lights.
