Tomac, Seely, Boni, Weege, Crater on DMXS Radio Tonight
April 20, 2011, 7:40pm
TLD’s Cole Seely is the only rider in the competitive Monster Energy AMA Supercross Lites West with two wins this season other than Josh Hansen. It seems like his ride with the Factory Honda 450 team during the break was time well spent after a convincing win on the technical Seattle track. Cole will break down his busy season tonight.
It was almost a year ago when GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac showed up at the AMA Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Hangtown opener and went 3-1 for the overall win on his professional debut. Those of us that closely covered his successful amateur career weren’t totally surprised, but it was still an eye opener to many fans and competitors alike. Eli has some more time and experience between him and that historic day and we wanted to catch up on the shy and talented Coloradoan for a little perspective over the past year.
We’ve know Jason Weigandt from his humble beginnings in the sport and have witnessed his ascent into greatness as one of the sport’s top journalistic figures. We’re also been asked frequently if all this success has gone to his head and fundamentally changed Jason. I can unequivocally say that Jason has not changed one bit over the past ten years. He was on opinionated jerk back then, too. Let’s peel back another layer on the Weege onion for all his fans.
TiLube’s Matt Boni is still recovering from a broken tibia and fibula sustained in a heat race crash in Dallas, TX. (Arlington, but I still call it Dallas for WTA) Matt’s a tough kid and has shown that signature grit by already putting some weight on the battered leg just a few weeks after surgery. We look forward to catching up with the “Boner” tonight, and we admit it’s been way too long.
Hard-core DMXS fans know our original motto, “Making Bad Billy Proud Since 1986.” We didn’t care if you didn’t get our Winners Take All humor, and still don’t. We were paying respect to the cinematic classic that was tragically overlooked by the Academy Awards and frequently looked down upon by those that failed to see the true message. You could almost hear the collective cheer across this great nation when Greg Crater donned the Team Hurricane gear in Seattle. We had to get him on the show this week to express our gratitude in keeping the dream alive.
