Powerlet: Taking Care of Our Own
March 1, 2011 4:35pm
Warren, MI - Shannon Proffer, 19 year old daughter of Powerlet's VP of Sales & Marketing Dan Proffer, was seriously injured in a hit and run accident in Scottsdale, Arizona. An avid athlete and active motocross rider who is studying Events Management in college, she was riding home from dinner Saturday evening in a pedi-cab. Shannon, her co-worker and the pedi-cab cyclist were barreled over by a drunk driver on Scottsdale Road. Local officials are still investigating the incident and no arrests have been made; eye witnesses claim a large SUV hit the pedi-cab, dragged it for as much as 50 feet and then continued without stopping.
The team at Powerlet and many other industry professionals are now looking for ways to take care of our own. Shannon is in the Maricopa County Hospital Intensive Care Unit suffering from a compound fracture of her tibia/fibula, multiple fractures in her pelvis, ruptured spleen, concussion and serious road rash. Dan and wife, Cheri, have made arrangements for lodging and travel to be with Shannon during her recovery. The Proffer family asks that you send all correspondence to danproffer@sbcglobal.net and Dan will ensure that Shannon gets all the messages.
"Rest and recovery are her first priority at the moment," says Proffer. "Thanks everyone for the prayers and calls. Shannon will pull through," he adds. "The surgeon said they will monitor her in ICU for a couple of days and once through that, she should recover fine. Again, thanks for your prayers and please think about your intake before driving."
Any donations would be greatly appreciated; travel miles or airline donations would be a great option, since travel to and from Arizona from Michigan can add up quickly. Monetary donations can be received at:
