LA Daily News Reporter Tries to Explain Anti-Supercross Story

By now you probably heard about (or actually read) Los Angeles Daily News baseball writer Tom Hoffarth's unfortunate description of the first-ever Los Angeles Supercross at Dodger Stadium. In case you missed it, here it is. But in a nutshell, he was angry that the baseball diamond for the Dodgers was "transformed into a giant truck stop outside of Blythe," because "dignity dug itself a hole" by hosting this race.
Since Sunday afternoon, when Racer X Online and several other message forums posted Mr. Hoffarth's insulting description of Supercross and its fans, he and the newspaper have received hundreds of emails. It was enough for him to write a mea culpa of sorts, basically saying he has no problem with SX in particular, just dirt events that cover the apparently sacred grass of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are going through a messy ownership divorce that has affected not only the time but the critics who cover the team (the team went from the playoffs in '09 to finishing fourth in their division with a losing record in 2010).
