Two Yoshimura Racers Nominated for ESPY Awards
Chino, Calif. – Yoshimura R&D of America recognizes great racing talent, and so do the ESPN ESPY Awards. Two of Yoshimura’s standout motocross racers, Ryan Dungey and Ashley Fiolek, have been nominated for ESPY Awards thanks to their skills, dedication, and outright domination of their sport.
Ryan Dungey, the 2010 Supercross Champion, has been nominated for "Best Male Action Sports Athlete" and is the only male motocross racer nominated. He earned his nod from the ESPYs due to his domination of the 2010 AMA Supercross series in his first year in the 450 class. Dungey became only the second rookie and the youngest ever to take the championship in a season that was both amazing and proof of the 20-year-old racer’s determination and commitment to success. He rode his Yoshimura-powered Suzuki RM-Z450 to six Supercross wins and 11 podium appearances, and he’s currently leading the AMA Motocross series after three amazing wins in a row.
Defending Women’s Motocross Champion Ashley Fiolek has been nominated for the "Best Female Action Sports Athlete," and is the only female motocrosser to be nominated. She won the 2009 title with an astounding 10 wins and is in the heat of battle defending her championship in 2010 with her Yoshimura-powered Honda CRF250R. Fiolek has long been a standout in the sport of motocross racing, and her nomination proves that she’s one of the best athletes competing today.
The ESPY Awards will take place in Los Angeles and will be shown live on ESPN July 14th at 9 p.m. EST.
