March 30, 2010 2:21pm
PREVIEW: RICKY CARMICHAEL (NO. 4 MONSTER ENERGY CHEVROLET)
VENUE: NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY (1.33-D-SHAPED-OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES ( RACE 4 of 25)
EVENT: NASHVILLE 200 ( 150 LAPS, 200 MILES)
DATE: APRIL 2, 2010
MUSIC CITY MADNESS: Friday night’s running of the Nashville 200 at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway will mark Carmichael’s first start at the track. However, the Florida native does have one start (2008) at Nashville Speedway, located at the Nashville Fairgrounds, in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Carmichael started 20th and finished 4th at the famed short track downtown.
CARMICHAEL ON TRUCKS: Last week at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway Carmichael scored his second top-10 of the season with a 10th place finish. It was huge leap from the 29th place finish he scored during last season’s spring race at the famed short track. Three weeks ago at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway he scored his career best Truck Series finish by crossing the finish line in sixth place. It was a much needed confidence booster for the team after a mid-race crash ended the race for the No. 4 Monster Energy Team at Daytona in February. Last season Carmichael competed in 18 Truck Series events and scored two top-10 finishes during his first season of NASCAR competition at the elite level.
BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW: During Carmichael’s Moto career he only suffered three broken bones. Carmichael broke his collar bone, shoulder and wrist during his 10-year-stint as an AMA Pro Rider.
MONSTER MANIA: Check out the Monster Energy show truck at two locations in Nashville this weekend. On Wednesday fans can stop by the DAILY’S on 5800 Old Hickory Blvd. in Hermitage, Tenn. from 1:00PM to 5:00 PM. CARMICHAEL ON NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY: “It will be back to the basics this weekend because I have never raced at the big speedway. I raced at the little track in downtown Nashville during my East Series days, but I know the superspeedway is a lot different. I have watched several past races at the track to get familiar with what line to run and where to pass. We will unload Friday morning and I will spend the first few laps getting acquainted with the track. I think it will help that the surface is concrete because it provides lots of grip right off the bat. I did run an East Series race at Dover several years ago and finished seventh. I really enjoyed racing on the concrete. The Monster Energy Team is really on a roll and I look to continue it in Nashville this weekend.”
