Former motocrosser Ricky James won his first-ever West Coast Pro Truck race this past weekend at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California. The event marked his sixth start as a rookie in the series and he qualified on the pole with a 19.93 second time around the 1/2-mile course. In fact, it was only the third truck to ever record a 19-second run on the famed asphalt oval. James went on to win the 30-lap main event by an impressive 4.31 seconds. His crew included Dean Kuhn, Kenny Pariza and Steve Durler.
The action was all caught by ESPN cameras who were there along with former Supercross Starlett Jamie Little, who was working on a feature with James. The upcoming feature also includes a candid interview with James and NASCAR stars Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. James is sponsored by Metal Mulisha Energy Drinks, Alpinestars, Colours Wheelchairs, Total Performance Batteries and Pole Position Raceway.
