2006 Prequel Update
Even in “New Math” 15 minutes doesn’t equal 30 minutes plus two
laps, nor does it make for an easy transition for many of the AMA
Motocross or Motocross Lites riders going from the short sprint like 15
minute main events in Supercross, to the grueling thirty minutes plus
two lap motos that make up Outdoor motocross. The adjustments required
in mental and physical conditioning can be brutal with unprepared
riders fading faster than a cheap pair of jeans during the opening
rounds of the outdoor season. Losing too many points early in the
season can spell the end to the title hopes after only a few events.
May 13th will see the third annual Primm Prequel at Glen Helen Raceway
set to give the stars of the AMA National Motocross/Motocross Lites
Championship an opportunity on to hone their outdoor skills in a true
racing environment without the risk of losing valuable points. Two
thirty minute motos on the famed Glen Helen circuit will more than just
simulate the conditions the riders will face the following weekend at
Hangtown, it will give them, their machines and teams that one last
chance at final preparation before the series kicks off.
In racing preparation is everything.
The Women Motocross Association will also be participating with the
opening round of their National Championship series and if the pace and
action of last year ‘s racing was any indication of what can be
expected, watch out! The women that compete at this level in the WMA
are truly astonishing and the battles are fast and furious.
Mark your calendars now for May 13th (the day before Mother’s day) for
a race like no other. Updates, developments, camping information and
invited riders lists can be found at www.glenhelenraceway.com
