The 2005-2006 Moto XXX Race Team is Taking Shape
For privateer motocross teams, the short off season between outdoor motocross and the World Supercross series may itself be the biggest race of the year. Even as the longest lasting, most successful privateer squad in the sport’s history, Moto XXX doesn’t have a built-in racing budget like the factories. Sponsorships have to be negotiated, riders have to be signed and more often than not, each needs the other to be finalized before pulling the trigger. It’s definitely not for the weak at heart, but no one has ever accused Moto XXX of being so and the team has come through another challenging off season intact and ready to resume the role of giant killer.
Though some sponsorships and rider contracts have yet to be formally completed, Moto XXX is able to officially confirm the signing of the 2005 AMA Pro Racing Rookie of the Year, Juss Lansoo. A native of Estonia , Juss flew into the American racing scene completely under the radar. No one knew his name, much less how to pronounce it, when he finished the 2004 Glen Helen National inside the top ten. He wasn’t so anonymous when he placed 5th at the 2005 opener in Sacramento , but he continued to raise eyebrows. Despite struggling with injuries during the summer, Juss’ consistent performances earned him the prestigious Rookie of the Year title.! Moto XXX is very excited to be giving him his first full-time ride in America . Juss will compete in the World/AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross series aboard a Honda CRF450R.
Looking to reestablish a presence in the newly named “Lites” division, Moto XXX signed proven performer Josh Sumney to this season’s roster. Many race fans will recognize Sumney from his appearances on Speed’s “Reality of Speed”. His competitors are even more familiar with him due to the solid results he’s earned the past couple of years. Like Lansoo, Sumney is already accustomed to riding Hondas and looks forward to taking advantage of the legendary power possessed by Moto XXX race bikes. He will be competing in the World/AMA Supercross Lites and AMA Motocross Lites series.
Privateer cult hero Kyle Lewis is back with Moto XXX for another season. The undisputed team captain’s ability to regularly holeshot highly paid factory riders and race inside the top ten has become synonymous with Moto XXX. Once again, “Lucky” will be armed with the Honda CRF450R in the premier Supercross and Motocross divisions. Having already earned a 12th in the opening round of World Supercross, it seems that he’s picking up right where he left off in September.
