2006 Loretta Lynn’s Regional Qualifier Schedule

Tuesday, November 15, 2005 | 10:08 AM

Morgantown, WV – MX Sports has announced the schedule for the 2006 Regional Championships, the final qualifying rounds for the 2006 AMA Amateur National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s. Regional Championships will begin the weekend of May 26 and 27, and conclude the weekend of June 24 and 25.

Highlights of the schedule include a Northeast Amateur Regional at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA, on June 3 - 4, one week after the 30th Annual High Point AMA Pro National. On June 10 - 11, Gatorback Cycle Park in Gainesville, Florida – home of the Winter Olympics - will host a Southeast Youth Regional. Spring Creek Raceway in Millville Minnesota will host its first-ever Amateur Regional on June 24 - 25, and Honey Lake Motocross in California will host a special three-day qualifier in the Northwest on Memorial Day Weekend.

“MX Sports spends the entire year evaluating facilities and locations to provide the best format possible,” says MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. “For many racers, Regional Championships are the most important races of the year, so we work hard to ensure each facility runs their event in a safe and fair manner, just like the National.”

All Regional Championship rounds will utilize the same three-moto format as the National at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.

The 25th Anniversary AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s begin Monday, July 31st, with motos beginning Tuesday, August 1st and concluding on Saturday, August 6th.

The AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships is the world’s largest amateur motocross race. In 2005, over 22,000 entries attempted to qualify in 33 classes for the event. The 2005 National was held August 1 – 6, 2005 at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Winning an AMA Amateur National Championship is considered the launch pad to a lucrative pro motocross career. Sponsors include Air Nautiques, Amsoil, Maxxis, Thor, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Cobra, FMF, Gatorade, Parts Unlimited, Ogio, Freestyle Watches, Scott, Alpinestars, Boyesen, CTi, DC Shoes, Kicker, Liquid Performance, Wiseco, AGV, Renthal, Twin Air, Moto Tees and EK Chain.
