At this year’s Washougal National, two riders expected to be up front their whole lives were up front together for the first time. Carson Mumford and Hunter Yoder, casualties when the old GEICO Honda team closed in 2020, have been through years of struggle. Racing is finally on the upswing for them now. Mumford has been a revelation, logging consistent top-ten overalls this summer and then taking a third-place moto finish and fifth overall at Millville, then fourth overall at Washougal. For the first time in his career, he has a deal already in place for next season. As his AEO Powersports KTM team is expected to move to Husqvarna equipment and get more support for 2027, Carson says he should actually start making some money. It’s been a six-year struggle to get to this level of stability.
