We’re now four years into
the FIM World Supercross
Championship, and still,
no one is sure what exactly it is

It was sort of surreal to be sitting in the press box at the ancient McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, just two weeks after Round 8 of the Pro Motocross Championship, watching Cooper Webb put on a clinic in the Main Event of Round 1 of the World Supercross Championship. Suddenly, tuff blocks were flying everywhere and taking down riders! How did we end up here in this old stadium (home of the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders, in case you were wondering) with the red flag waving and the riders pulling off the track? Weather aborted the final SX1 main event early, and in fact, it wouldn’t count towards the final standings. As per FIM rules, 75% of the race had not been completed, and Round 1 of the 2026 WSX Championship went out with a wet and windy whimper instead of a bang. What happens next? Well, that’s still a few weeks away.
