Weather or Not

When the skies open up on Lucas Oil Pro Motocross like they did at the Ironman finale, all bets are off—including the sure ones
Motocross happens rain or shine, and over the course of the last three rounds of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, we got a lot of both. First came a deluge at Unadilla that turned the upstate New York valley into a big bathtub of greasy mud. It rained so hard that the politically correct Wall section (known to older, crustier fans as Screw-U) had to be detoured: medical personnel couldn’t get to the bottom if someone got torpedoed. One week later at Budds Creek, it was so brutally hot and sunny that infield fans migrated en masse to the tree shadows as the sun slowly burned and turned. And then at the Ironman finale in Indiana the once-pristine facility was hit with a sinister storm front that hit at the absolute worst time for racers and promoters, which is early in the morning when fans are deciding what to do with the rest of their weekend.
