Last month we featured Legends Barlow, a rider who likes to transport his dirt bike on the roof of his car. This time it’s Tristan Lane, a privateer professional who transports his race bikes in the belly of jetliners. Lane, who hails from DeLand, Florida, often used the friendly skies to get himself and his motorcycle to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross races, disassembling and crating up the #711 KTM 450 SX-F and shipping it straight to the tracks. Once there, he and his mechanic, Donald Davis, put it together working out of their rental car, oftentimes with help from the Gear Race Services track crew or the guys from Dunlop. Lane scored his first championship points this season at his home race at WW Ranch, then added more with a solid ride at the Fox Raceway series finale. Afterward, Lane and Davis pulled the bike apart, packed it back up in its crate, and called it a successful season.
