Rain will be coming over night and will continue on and off all day. We will keep you posted on all of the racing action, as well as any updates with the weather or any weather delays that may or may not happen.

First Qualifying Sessions

It is raining but unless there is lightening the race must go on, and that means practice too. It was the top two in points out front in the 250 A group, Levi Kitchen and Cole Davies, with Ryder DiFrancesco in third. In the 450 A group, first practice it was Haiden Deegan topping both Hunter and Jett Lawrence. The rain is continuing for now but should slow down for the motos.

Second Qualifying Sessions

As the rain continued the track continued to get worse. For 250 A second qualifying, times were slower than the first, but the track was still manageable. Cole Davies topped that session over Drew Adams and Levi Kitchen but Kitchen’s time from the first session held. In 450 group A the track had deteriorated significantly. Many riders chose to not go out at all while others only the circulated the track once or twice. In the end, Haiden Deegan who was the fastest in the first session (a time which obviously would hold) was the only one still on the track, throwing whips for the crowd. Whether he just loves riding in the mud or is just trying to pull a power move on the rest of the field will be see when the gates drop this afternoon.

Update

No one in 450 group B qualifying went out for the second session and the decision was made to cancel both the LCQ’s (top 40 from timed qualifying will move on to the motos) and the WMX practice session. WMX riders raced yesterday and no one seemed too upset to wait until the second moto to get on the track. 

250 Moto 1

In 250 moto one it was Levi Kitchen with the holeshot with Chance Hymas close behind. Only a half of a lap in and Kitchen threw it away on the sloppy track. Hymas led for about a lap until Davies made his way around for the lead while Landen Gordon was in third and slowly reeling in Hymas. Meanwhile further back Levi Kitchen has worked his way back into the top 10. Carson Mumford proves he can ride in dry and mud as he worked his way up and around Kayden Minear for fourth. Kitchen had to throw his goggles which is going to make his life way harder, as he falls back to 12th. And after massively casing the uphill triple, Davies decided to resort to doubling the next lap. Lappers were getting thick but the top three were still able to charge through the pack. With two laps to go the top three of Davies, Hymas and Gordon started to tighten up just a little bit, as Hymas put in a couple laps in a row faster than Davies. Hymas closed to only 2.2 seconds to the rear of Davies but was unable to make a pass stick. Davies wins the moto and takes over the points lead.

450 Moto 1

450 moto one and it was Haiden Deegan sneaking to the inside to pull the holeshot. Hunter Lawrence was second and Jett was buried in the pack. Deegan’s lead did not last long as Hunter made the pass on lap one. Eli Tomac had a good start in third with his teammate Jorge Prado in fourth. Meanwhile Jett Lawrence was still trying to make moves, barely inside of the top 20. After a few laps Hunter opened his lead up by a few seconds and Jett was in 11th closing in on Malcolm Stewart in 10th. During the second half of the race Deegan actually started closing in on Hunter. And Prado made the move on Tomac for 3rd. Jett kept pushing and made his way to seventh and started applying pressure on Barcia for sixth with Webb right ahead of him. Every pass counts for Jett at the moment but off course Barcia refused to make it easy on him. In the end Hunter was able to open it back up to over five seconds over Deegan, Prado was third, Tomac fourth and Jett finished fifth.

WMX Moto 2

WMX moto two and it was Mikayla Nielsen with the holeshot with Lachlan Turner and Charli Cannon close behind. Moto one holeshot winner Taylah McCutcheon was on the ground in the first turn with GNCC rider Brandy Richards. Both Turner and Cannon made quick work of Nielsen on the first lap. Mayla Herrick was running fourth behind Nielsen until she went down in the turn after the triple step up handing the position over to Jordan Jarvis who had bike issues in the first moto. Eventually Herrick closed up to the rear of Jarvis and made the pass with only a few turns to go, got hung up with a lapper, Jarvis came back and Herrick went down. Turner came in for the win, winning by her largest margin all year, over 14 seconds.

250 Moto 2

For the second 250 moto it was Chance Hymas who was fastest off the line and out to the early lead. Parker Ross was second, but Cole Davies got around him quickly. Levi Kitchen had a decent start (for him) in sixth and moving forward. Unfortunately for Carson Mumford he went down and was seen holding his arm. Ryder DiFrancesco also went down in a wild crash coming down one of the downhills while riding sixth. The track has dried up significantly, but it is very slick in some places and then gets deep if a rider goes off the main line. At the halfway point of the race, Kitchen started putting in heaters, running faster than both Hymas and Davies in front of him. Kitchen closing on Davies who in turn was closing on Hymas. With six laps to go Levi made the pass on Davies and set his sights on Hymas. Kitchen got close but was unable to make it happen. Chance Hymas got his first overall of the season going 2-1.

450 Moto 2

In the final moto of the day, it was Hunter Lawrence with the holeshot followed by Jorge Prado and Justin Barcia and another mediocre start for both Jett and Haiden. Mikkel Haarup also had a good start and worked his way into third, while Hunter put in some heaters trying to build a gap. But the next lap Prado pulled up behind Hunter to put on the pressure. While Jett and Deegan started together, Jett was much more efficient at working his way through the packed quickly moving to fourth. On lap six Jett got around Haarup for third. RJ Hampshire bobbled gifting sixth place to Deegan before Deegan mounted an attack on Barcia for fifth. It was a battle of the rev limiters until Barcia went down. Next in line for Deegan was Haarup who has been riding an incredible race. In the closing laps Jett pulled up right behind Jorge who was challenging for the lead at the beginning of the race. With the help of a lapper, Jett was able to make the pass into second on the last lap.
