"An Evening with the Kurt Caselli Foundation" Raises $50,000
TEMECULA, Calif. — Family-owned and operated Doffo Winery in Temecula, California, hosted the Fifth Annual MotoDoffo event, "An Evening with the Kurt Caselli Foundation," on a beautiful summer evening. Five hundred people attended and nearly $50,000 was raised to fulfill our mission of protecting and supporting the lives of off-road riders.
The doors opened at 4:00 p.m. and the event was kicked off with a trials show performance by Red Bull’s Geoff Aaron, which was one of the most popular parts of the evening. Following Aaron’s performance, the Kurt Caselli Foundation team took to the stage to present the Fall 2018 scholarship winner Josh Knight with a scholarship check, a handcrafted KCF Power Award to thank the Doffo family, and AMA’s Jim Williams joined the KCF on stage to present the Friend of the AMA award to the team. Nancy Caselli, Kurt’s mother, read a piece that Kurt had passionately wrote and asked his mother to proofread via email. It was a tear-filled audience post-Nancy’s reading.
Next was the start of the live auction, where many attendees brought home one-of-kind experiences and treasures, including Kurt’s race QuickFill with stand, a display collection of Kurt’s racing visors, a VIP trip to the Motocross of Nations at RedBud, a motorcycle trip for two to visit Kurt’s memorial in Baja, Mexico, and one lucky attendee left with an Ultimate Off-Road Kit courtesy of Camburg, Fox Shox, and Method Wheels to outfit their daily driver with suspension, shocks, and wheels. We can’t thank the supporters of the Foundation and the event enough for the help to fund our mission of protecting and supporting the lives of off-road riders.
The Working Man Band played into the night while the scent of flatbread pizza from Red Oven and tacos by Tito's Taco filled the air. The crowd stayed cool with cold beer from Backstreet Brewery and caffeinated with delicious coffee drinks from Greyscale Roasters and Doffo wine-filled KC66 wine glasses throughout the evening.
During the Fifth Annual MotoDoffo event, the Foundation was able to unveil a custom 2019 KTM 300 XC-W TPI project bike that will be given away at the December 1, 2018 Kurt Caselli Ride Day at Glen Helen Raceway. KTM North America, Inc., and the Kurt Caselli Foundation have outfitted the bike with KTM powerparts, an FMF Racing pipe & silencer and custom KC66 graphics. Tickets can be purchased at www.KurtCaselli.com.
The Foundation dedicated $120,000 to be utilized in three different safety areas in 2018: Race Course and Safety, Rider Safety during events, and Injury Management. Projects include the addition of a Race Course Safety Advisor, the KCF Safety Kawasaki Mule donated with medical service devices to the GNCC series, supplying major off-road race series with over 200 KCF Caution Flags, and over 300 high-visibility KCF Safety Bibs to youth riders and much more.
