Shea Racing Dallas Report
The Shea Racing PowerBar-fueled athletes competed in 250cc Lites heat race number two. In their FLY Racing gear, both Clarke on the #552 KTM and Ripple on the #304 KTM were in the running for transfer spots directly into the main event. Ripple made it into the top five in the six-lap main event while Clarke was running in eighth, thanks in part to gained horsepower from the new DR.D NS-4 exhaust system. After a tangle with another rider, Clarke crashed and dropped a few positions. At the checkers it was Ripple earning a direct transfer to the main and Clarke finishing in 15th place.
Clarke rolled his DeCal Works emblazoned KTM 250 SX-F to the starting line for the four-lap LCQ. Aftereffects from the crash in the heat race held the talented Clarke back in moving to one of the two transfer spots to the main. He finished outside the transfer in seventh place.
The team was ready for its first main event of the season at the opening round. Ripple rolled up to the start line for the 15-lap main ready for his Mika Metals-sponsored KTM to get a solid start. Unfortunately his race was short lived as a mechanical pulled him off after only two laps.
“We had a promising start to the season,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “Brad’s fourth place heat race finish was our best ever for the team in the heat races. We had a solid shot at getting both riders into the main in their first outing for us, but racing mistakes by another rider sidetracked Steven. In the main, Brad had the talent and speed but a mechanical got in the way. We’ll be ready for Atlanta this weekend as we bring what we learned.”
