High Point National Goes Old-School Amateur
Morgantown, W.V. - Back in the day when motocross was motocross all of the up and coming amateur riders honed their skills at the AMA Pro National Amateur Days. Jeff Stanton and Ricky Carmichael didn't get fast just because of where they were from or what they ate for breakfast. They traveled to the events that had lots of competition that they could race against.
This weekend the High Point National is going to revive amateur motocross (2 motos) so amateur riders can have a special weekend, watching the top pros from around the world and racing themselves. How much better can it get?
PAMX's Jeff Cernic is leading his riders to the event for the weekend and Thor Mega Series' Sam Gammon will be there to rally the riders from the south. Friday's amateur event is PAMX points plus tons of product awards for the riders from Scott USA, Dunlop, Vortex, Matrix and Acerbis. Sunday will pay point to the PAMX Series as well as the THOR Mega Series by Dunlop. Sunday's race is also an AMA Pro-AM points paying event. Sunday pays factory contingency off the THOR Mega Series by Dunlop.
In addition to all this there will be a Friday night Pit Bike race. Load the truck.
A great weekend is ahead for everyone at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris. PA.
