DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha - Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ - The AMA Supercross Series moved the slightest bit out of California over the weekend racing in front of 39K+ fans at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha talents #20 Broc Tickle and #48 Max Anstie adapted to the technical track quickly setting qualifying times that slated them respectively into the night portion of racing.
Up first in qualifying Heat 1 was Tickle, who jumped out front with an awesome start in 2nd. Leading the way, in the second turn Tickle lost his wheels and hit the ground. Tickle was able to remount, and quickly began carving his way up through the field. Track conditions were tough to say the least, and once again the Yamaha pilot suffered yet another fall. Now with only a few laps left, Broc continued to dig deep in order to qualify, but he faced an insurmountable gap which meant he would have to try his luck in the LCQ. When Heat 2 took to the track, Anstie had put himself in with the top contenders seeing him hold down 4th. Unfortunately, at the tail end of lap one the third place rider went down in the sand section and collected Anstie in the process. Now sitting nearly last, Max put his skills to use, forging all the way up to 8th by races end and happily avoided the LCQ.
The always dramatic LCQ took to the track, and drama it was. The very likeable Tickle, once again rocketed out front right from the beginning. Riding a very clean and smart race when it truly counted, Tickle rode on to the win.
The gate dropped for the 15 lap main event and at the end of lap one, Tickle brilliantly put himself in good position after a very bad gate pick, 10th. For the next two laps he would remain exactly the same, only to see a rise of one position. Anstie in the opening laps was suffering from some rookie blues; in 16th position and trying too hard he was having his troubles with the slick surface. The next eleven laps, Tickle rode strong and steady as he always does which brought the DNA Shred Stix backed rider up into 7th. In the closing few rotations of race Tickle managed to put his hard training ethics to use, allowing him to jump up two more spots, finishing 5th. Meanwhile Anstie uncharacteristically just never came to grips with the track and gutted out a finish of 15th.
This Wednesday, be sure to catch our team riders signing autographs for more Supercross fans at Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino CA from 6-8pm.
