  • JG Off Road / GEICO EnduroCross Report

The EnduroCross team was in Guthrie, OK for round #2 of the GEICO EnduroCross Series. The action started at 9 am (Central) with practices and qualifiers that continued throughout the day. The JG Off Road / GEICO Powersports line up for the event: Wally Palmer, Ryan Rodgers, Eric Rodgers, and JT Bennett.

Morning/Afternoon Program:

Ryan Rodgers had qualified for the Open Amateur Main Event in his first qualifier. Ryan and JT have also qualified to run the Expert Qualifiers in the evening program. JT Bennett suffered a broken finger in the Amateur LCQ, but did make it through the Expert LCQ to qualify into the night program. To see group results, click here.

Eric Rodgers and Wally Palmer are pre-qualified for the evening event.

Evening Program:

The evening program brought with it a lot of action once again. Ryan Rodgers took a 2nd place finish in the Amateur Main Event, placing him into the Dash for Cash. Next, all four of the guys faced the track in the first rounds of the expert heats. All 4 riders were forced to move onto the Semi Finals, however JT bowed out due to his broken finger. From the Semi's Wally and Ryan advanced on to the LCQ. Ryan had one more go at the track in the Dash for Cash, taking a 2nd place finish.

The main event was set from the start once Taddy Blazuziak jumped into the lead and held onto it through the end, taking the win in the 1st race of the GEICO Triple Crown and his 2nd win in the EnduroCross season. Taddy was followed by Damon Huffman in 2nd, and Graffundar in 3rd.

The next round of the GEICO EnduroCross is September 12 in Florence, SC.  JT Bennett is questionable for this event due to his broken finger.  The doctor would prefer that he sit out for 6 weeks to let the bones fuse back together (he fractured and dislocated the top bone of his left pinky finger and also busted up the socket).

In other news, the rest of the team – Paul Whibley, Scott Watkins and Jimmy Jarrett raced an OMA in Festus, MO.  Whibley took a first place finish, followed closely by Scott Watkins (who did lead the race for a short time) and Jimmy took an 8th place finish – with a broken wrist.

The next round of OMA’s will be held in Bedford, IN on August 30th.
