RedBud Backs Shane Sewell for St. Louis SX

  • RedBud Backs Shane Sewell for St. Louis SX

BUCHANAN, Mich. – The up and down 2009 indoor MX season for Shane Sewell just went up again as officials at RedBud have stepped up to help the Indiana rider out with some sponsorship backing for this weekend’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, contest at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis – round six of the ’09 ESX Lites series.

Sewell, who’s currently 21st in ESX Lites points, has scored well in the two main events he’s made – 9th at Indy and 15th at Daytona. But coming off an arenacross injury and having the bike shop that was sponsoring him go out of business, Sewell was - as many privateers chasing the dream are - having a rough go of  it.

“I’m pumped to have RedBud on board for St. Louis. You have no idea how much that helps out,” said Sewell. “Thanks a bunch to the Ritchie family and staff at RedBud for having my back.”

RedBud’s sponsoring of Sewell is, in part, to promote the MX facility’s grand opening for the 2009 competition season with “Open Riding Saturday,” April 11th – an event Sewell fondly recalls. “I remember one year I cut the track so I could jump the (LaRocco’s) Leap,” said Sewell. “Man, Tim (Ritchie) was PISSED! I guess now that they’re sponsoring me he’s over it. But at the time I was in a world of trouble for doing that.”

For their part the RedBud crew knows that its racers are all in this together and it was their pleasure to lend some assistance to one of the top local guys from their track, especially someone with the drive and talent that Sewell possesses.

“Sponsors are pretty hard to come by these days, so RedBud wants to help out a local kid and keep him going for another week,” said RedBud’s Tim Ritchie. “The Sewells – including Shane’s brother, Travis - have been racing at RedBud forever, help us out whenever they can and everyone here at RedBud wishes Shane the best of luck this weekend at St. Louis.”

RedBud supports the sport of motocross and has since 1972!  The region's most prestigious amateur events and Round Six of the AMA Lucas Oil Motocross Championship are held in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Michigan. A state with an affinity for off-road recreational vehicle use, RedBud owns the bragging rights to the highest attended U.S. motocross race year after year. Just the right soil mix, lots of passing and the BIGGEST jump on the circuit (LaRocco’s Leap), the track provides for some terribly exciting motocross racing. Definitely a top motocross destination in a region that loves its motorsports.
