Rosamond, CA – The CHM Exhaust/Pro Honda Oils Supermoto Racing Team is proud to welcome its newest addition to the team. Micky Dymond is teaming up with Roger Hensley and the CHM Team to compete in the 2009 Premier/450 class championship. Dymond is one of the most likeable, most recognizable, and definitely one of the fastest riders in the XTRM/AMA Supermoto Championship Series.
“We’re super happy to have Micky coming on board the team for the first time here in 2009. He’s excited….we’re excited…..I think you’re going to see some great stuff out of Micky and the team this season,” said Roger Hensley, CHM team manager. “We hooked up out at Grange last Wednesday so he could get some comparative laps at a track where he’s ridden before. He loved the 09 bike, and the rest is history.”
“Roger is one of those guys that has been out there supporting the sport since the AMA series started and I’ve always seen that he had good equipment that was competitive and he did whatever had to be done to make sure the show went on,” said Micky Dymond. “I just rode the ’09 bike……I don’t know if it’s just a lucky fluke, or something that Honda did on purpose, but that 2009 is the most planted bike on the pavement I’ve ever been on, super easy to throw side to side. It felt like it had a really low center of gravity and I really felt great on it right away. Hell, it’s a stocker with just wheels and brakes! I was actually pretty amazed and had a lot of fun.”
Micky had a serious crash at the Moto-X World Championships that left him with broken bones and nerve damage. “I thought that after last year that it might be over for Supermoto, and I really didn’t want my career to end like that. I’ve been trainin’ hard on bicycles and even doing some freestyle stuff lately, but I hadn’t been on a Supermoto bike since the last AMA race in November and it felt really good to be on one and on the pavement again. I’m really looking forward to getting to the first round at Fontana and riding this bike some more!”
One of the most successful racers in AMA racing of any discipline, Micky was the 1986 and 1987 AMA Motocross 125cc Champion, and AMA Supermoto Unlimited Class Champion in 2006.
Micky will also be competing in the Pikes Peak Hillclimb event for the fifth time in 2009 and is looking to make it one step higher on the podium after finishing second last year to Davey Durelle on an Aprilia in 2008. Also on Micky’s calendar for 2009 is a return to the annual Mettet Starbikers Supermoto event in Belgium where he nearly won in 2007 and placed 5th last year.
The CHM Exhaust/Pro Honda Oils team also features Jason Conlon competing in the Premier/450 class, and 16 year old, Dustin Hoffman, competing in his first full year in the Lites/250 class. Stay tuned, it’s going to be an exciting year for this team.
