Popular Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum Exhibit Celebration Party

SAN DIEGO - The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museums exhibit Motocross America: The Early Years began its national tour on April 1st at the San Diego Automotive Museum. The exhibit showcases the history of motocross for audiences in Southern California, a regional home for many racing champions, past and present. The exhibit runs through September 25, 2008. San Diego BMW Motorcycles is proud to be a gold sponsor of the exhibit and has one of the beautiful R 1200 GS Adventures on display in the museum lobby. Other sponsors include: Cycle Visions, The Early Years of Motocross Museum, the Owen Collection, Valencia Sports Group, Vintage Iron, Racer X Magazine, and John Lefevre c/o Vintage Husky.

On Saturday May 17th the opening of the exhibit will be celebrated by scores of motocross champions from the past and present. The museum opens at 10:00 AM that morning and the champions will arrive starting at 1:00 PM and be available for autographs. Admission is just $8.00 for adults.

At 5:00 PM the doors will open for the huge celebration party in a lovely outdoor setting behind the museum that will showcase many additional legendary motocross machines. Famed race announcer and Motorcycle Hall of Famer Larry Huffman will be the master of ceremonies at this important event to help raise money for the non-profit San Diego Automotive Museum.

Many of motocross’ most famous legends have already committed to this event. 4-time World Motocross Champion and Suzuki Team Manager Roger DeCoster and the sports past champion like Broc Glover, Gary Jones, Dewayne Jones, Don Jones, Bill Silverthorn, Marty Smith, Tim Hart, Mike Bell, Rex Staten, Steve Stackable, Ray Lopez, Lars Larsson, Gary Bailey, David Bailey, and Marty Tripes. National media is also expected to attend this event.

25 framed pictures of many of the famous athletes that will be present will be signed and offered for auction along with many other items donated by the champions. Raffle tickets will also be sold with the top prize being a Vintage Iron/Felt Bicycle 35th Anniversary Jim Pomeroy tribute cruiser bicycle. Listen to Larry Huffman as he interviews the champions about the glory days of the sport of motocross both present and past.

Cost for this special evening that includes dinner is $75.00. Only 350 tickets will be available for the celebration dinner so call the museum at 619-398-0308 to make your reservations! Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity.
