American-made Cobras Sweep Mini Os
Cobra Motorcycles Wrap Up A Banner 2007 Competition Season With 50cc Sweep @ Mini Os
Cobra kids sweep every podium of every age class in both the Mini Os’ Supercross and Motocross competitions
HILLSDALE, Mich., (Nov. 29, 2007) – Backing up their historic sweep of Loretta’s this past summer, Cobra kids were equally as impressive at the 36th annual Thor Winter National Olympics, presented by Pro Circuit in Florida this past week. All totaled, Cobra kids swept the podium of every class (Jr./4-6 & Sr./7-8) in both the Motocross and Supercross portions of the season’s last major national amateur motocross competition.

“A big round of applause here at Cobra headquarters to all the kids racing Cobras this year. You guys and your parents were part of history at Cobra.”
Beginning with the SX class at Gatorback MX Park in Gainesville, Fla., Cobra’s Jordan Bailey kept true to his Loretta’s title by coming out on top in the 4-6 class at the Mini Os. Bailey and the top four junior Cobra pilots – including Logan Leitzel, Brandon Hariston and Tristan Lewis – were all very close in each moto. But in the end it was Bailey who rode a smooth and smart race to take the 4-6 Jr. SX title.
In the 7-8 Sr. SX class it was Austin Forkner and Ty Pantley who were able to put in the consistent rides, and in doing so topped some big names in the Sr. SX class. Both had some good motos at major events earlier in the year, but had yet to put together two of them – until the Mini Os! Joining Forkner (1st) and Pantley (2nd) on the overall 7-8 Sr. SX class podium was Michael Young.
In the 4-6 Jr. MX class it was again Bailey who proved to be the best little dude in the nation on a JR 50cc bike. Bailey was the only rider in the class that could jump the entire “Dinner Table” section – which is quite a feat given his age and being a Jr. class motorcycle. Lewis was able to run right there with Bailey for the entire race, but couldn’t get an advantage over the mistake-free riding of Bailey. Joining those two on the 4-6 Jr. MX podium was Cobra rider Jonathan Lee.
In the 7-8 Sr. MX class Joey Crown got the best of the competition – namely Pantley – in a lapper-splitting photo finish that was arguably the best moto of the week-long competition. The two were separated by only a couple of inches, with the top four finishers (Young, 3rd and Trevor Windgassen, 4th) all finishing within a couple seconds of each other.
Also noteworthy was the effort of Austin Forkner and Michael Young on their Cobra CX65s. Both kids rode strong all week long, and Young rounded out the MX program as the top finishing 8 year-old in both the Stock and Mod classes – putting a stake in the ground as one of the kids to beat in that class next year.
