David Knight Crowned 2007 U.S. GNCC Champion
Crawfordsville, Indiana – 10/28/07 – David Knight claims his seventh win of the series and secured the 2007 US Grand National Cross Country Title.
WMG athlete David Knight brought his first complete season of US GNCC competition to a perfect ending by winning the last event of the series and clinching the US GNCC title. Although David only needed to finish 12th or better to clinch the championship, he still brought his “A” game. David rounded the first corner in fourth before quickly working his way up to the runner-up position. He quickly pulled away from the rest of the XC1 Pro class riders and opened up a sizeable gap at the front of the race. David took the lead on lap four and never looked back. Even with a quick splash-and-dash stop for fuel at the end of the sixth lap, he managed to finish the race in two hours and fifty minutes, a minute before the closest competitor. “I was happy enough doing my own thing but when I got into a position to win I didn’t waste it,” David said after his victory. “I knew I had the speed to win so I went for it and things worked out well. Winning the championship with a race win is a great way to end the series.”
This is David’s seventh event win of the series and first US GNCC championship. Congratulations to David for all of his accomplishments throughout the series!
David would like to thank his sponsors for their continued support: KMT, Alpinestars, Moose Racing, Airoh Helmets, and Scott Goggles.
