U.S. Open on CBS Sports Saturday
AURORA, Ill. (October 17, 2007) – The drama-packed 2007 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open will air on CBS Sports this Saturday, October 20, from 1:30-3:00p.m. EST. Two nights of what is being called the greatest U.S. Open race weekend in history will be broadcast in a 90-minute format.
The 10th Annual Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open implemented several new elements to the weekend, giving it a fresh new appeal to riders and fans. The open class format, which allowed riders from both classes to compete aboard the 250F or 450F motorcycle, proved to big a major success as lites rider Jake Weimer used his 250F Honda motorcycle to earn the win Saturday night.
Jeff Emig, Mike LaRocco and Damon Huffman squared off in the in the inaugural champion’s rematch race. The five-lap battle brought the crowd to their feet as these former championship re-lived their glory days.
Yamaha’s Grant Langston, who won his first AMA Motocross championship this summer, capped off his 2007 season by upsetting odds-on favorite Chad Reed to win the overall title and the $100,000 winner’s check.
“That was the craziest race of my entire life,” said an elated Langston. “I was hit about 15 times out there tonight, and I hit 15 people myself. I didn’t know where I was at, so I kept looking at my pit board. I never gave up tonight.”
