KTM Kids MX Track Opens at RedBud
Buchanan, MI – The grand opening of the KTM Kids MX Track at the RedBud MX facility will take place as part of the Fall Classic Weekend September 15-16, 2007.
The RedBud facility houses three motocross tracks: the pro track, which hosts the AMA pro national and several amateur events annually, the night track and the 50cc track. RedBud co-founder Nancy Ritchie and her daughter Amy, together with KTM Vice President of Racing Promotions, Sel Narayana, developed the idea for the KTM Kids MX Track.
Home to the famed AMA pro national, the RedBud pro track isn’t very well suited to 50cc racing. “We found a great location and built a new 50cc track three seasons ago. It has elevation changes, a whoops section and tabletops – all sized perfectly for smaller bikes”, Amy Ritchie explains. “It provides close enough racing that the riders can develop their skills. The challenge is to keep it interesting enough for the more competitive riders but not too menacing for the beginners. We see KTM as the perfect partner for this project. With their support, we’ll continue to expand and develop the Kids Track for years to come. We’re really excited to be working with Sel and KTM on this; KTM is the perfect fit.”
KTM, known for its contribution to prestigious children’s racing events such as the popular KTM Junior Supercross Challenge (KJSC) Program and its successful KTM Junior SX/MX and Amateur Racing Teams made logical sense as a title sponsor for this track. KTM is dedicated to investing in the new generation of riders and helping beginner riders improve their skills to move onto the next level. “KTM is proud to promote the KTM Kids MX Track as its fitting with our goal of investing in the future of the next generation of riders to help develop well-trained mini riders,” stated Narayana.
Focusing on the family atmosphere, KTM, with the help of some racer parents, will be hosting a cookout for all the KTM Kids MX Track racers and families (no matter what brand you race!) in front of the KJSC semi after Saturday’s racing concludes.
In addition to the cookout, KTM will also be giving out contingencies and other prizes to KTM riders who finish in the top ten in the following classes during Sundays event: 50cc Junior, 50cc Senior, 50cc SS 4-6, and 50cc SS 7-8. Legendary off-road rider Mark Hyde, 3-time AMA National Off-Road Champion, 4-time Blackwater 100 Champ, ISDE Gold Medalist and more, will also be present on behalf of KTM to help with the racing activities.
Additional classes racing on the KTM Kids MX Track over the weekend are:
