MX for Children Raises $60,000 in Seattle
Amp’d Mobile Supercross Racers Spend a Day at Children’s Hospital
SEATTLE. (May 1, 2007) – The 2nd Annual Supercross Triple Charity for Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center raised $60,000 in a series of events held this past weekend in conjunction with the Amp’d Mobile Supercross at Seattle’s Qwest Field.
Organized by MX for Children and Live Nation Motor Sports, funds from this year’s charity event will be directed to Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center to assist in hydrocephalus research, a vexing brain condition that is shared by one million Americans.
On Thursday, an exclusive group of top fundraisers were treated to the Inside Line Experience, an exclusive meet and greet at the hospital with professional riders Ryan Villopoto, of nearby Poulsbo Timmy Ferry, Andrew Short and Davi Millsaps. The riders also spent time with the children at the hospital, playing games and signing posters before heading out to Qwest Field for a riding demonstration.
“The event not only generates some much needed funds for the hospital, but it also brings awareness for hydrocephalus,” said Paul Gross, founder of the Supercross Triple Charity for Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center event. “In addition to the activities and the money raised, we also attracted several of the local newspapers and television stations out to our events which should help spark some interest in this region long after the supercross race is gone.”
Additional activities were conducted during the weekend, including: a silent auction and autograph signing on Friday night at charity sponsor Renton Motorcycles; special pit tours at the races on Saturday for fundraisers; and a live raffle on Saturday night at the stadium where the winner of a 2007 Suzuki RMZ-250 was announced during the night’s racing program.
Several industry companies stepped up to support the event, including Amp’d Mobile Supercross, Live Nation, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, L&M Racing, Renton Motorcycles and Pro Caliber Motorsports.
